BTS Confirmed as Official Ambassadors for 2030 Busan World Expo
Recently on June 14, BTS shocked many after their sudden announcement of taking an indefinite hiatus from group activities to focus on solo activities. Since then, many have questioned the future of the group, and speculation that BTS is preparing to disband arose.
However, both the BTS members and HYBE have since then denied the disbandment speculation, and stated that the group still has many activities together lined up.
Now, on June 17 KST, the 2030 Busan World Expo had announced that the K-Pop superstars would be serving as their official ambassador.
According to reports, Busan mayor Park Hyung Jun had sent in a request for BTS to participate in the expo as a goodwill ambassador to actively promote it. The request was made back on June 15 of this year, and Busan Ilbo reported that HYBE had accepted the Busan mayor's request on June 17, 2022.
It is said that the 2030 Busan World Expo is hoping for BTS' huge influence and fan base will help draw in a crowd at the upcoming event.
Park Ji Won, who is currently HYBE's CEO after founder Bang Si Hyuk stepped down from the role back in 2021, told Busan Ilbo that the BTS members happily agreed to the request.

He said, "The company and artists think that the World Expo is an event that brings positive influence to the world, and we think that it is a meaningful event beyond the Olympics and World Cup.
