2PM Lee Junho Recalls Time He Viewed Himself as 'Useless Person'

2PM member Lee Junho looked back on the time he considered himself a "useless person" during his latest appearance on "You Quiz on the Block." He also shared the time he wasn't given many opportunities to showcase his skills. Read on to know his story.

2PM Lee Junho Talks About His Desire to Be Recognized on "You Quiz on the Block"

On the June 29 episode of tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," Lee Junho appeared as a guest and discussed the hardships he went through alone in the past.

At the beginning of the talk, the "Heartbeat" singer recalled, "I started thinking about my career path from third grade. I decided to go to a high school famous for its theater club. It takes 50 minutes by bus to go to school from my house."

He added, "Because I wanted to attend that school, I talked much about it with my parents. My father said, 'Are you smart? You've never shown a song and dance in front of me.'" Fortunately, he managed to convince his parents.

Around that time, 2PM Lee Junho was accepted as a trainee at JYP Entertainment after winning first place in the 2006 TV show "Superstar Survival," which SBS and JYP hosted. He then trained for almost two years before officially debuting as a 2PM member in 2008.

However, even after debuting with 2PM, not everything went well for Lee Junho. He did have a successful group and great achievements as a singer, but he wasn't given many opportunities to show more of what he can do.

"The Red Sleeve" actor confessed, "The other 2PM members did great while acting, and that was also my dream. At that time, I would stay a lot in the dormitory."

Lee Junho continued, "I thought a lot and felt lonely. It wasn't jealousy at all. I had many thoughts like, 'When will someone like me be able to show my true self to people?' and 'When will someone recognize my talent?.' So that's why I kept preparing myself."

As the interview went on, 2PM Lee Junho brought up the time he felt useless, specifically the period when he was severely injured.

The "My House" singer shared, "When I think about what I could do best, it's acrobatics. But I was seriously injured while doing acrobatics. At that time, I thought that I was a useless person who could do nothing. As I looked at the ceiling of the hospital, the words that all I could say were, "Wow! I'm useless."

Lee added that it was very difficult for him at that time, especially since he couldn't do the surgery right away. "I had to complete group activities and just took painkillers. I endured the pain for several years before the operation," he revealed.

"The strange thing is that opportunity came when I was lying in bed for a week after surgery. I was given an audition for the movie 'Cold Eyes.' Despite my condition, I decided to audition," the 2PM member further said.

Fortunately, he made it to the final cast of "Cold Eyes" and was given the supporting role of Detective Daramjwi. And that's when his acting career began.

Lee Junho then starred in the hit K-drama "The Red Sleeve," and after the show's conclusion, he reached his heyday as an actor.

He commented, "I'm very grateful. A lot of people came to find me. I think I received about 100 scripts."

Because of his determination and hard work, 2PM Lee Junho is now not only one of the top singers in the K-pop industry but also an actor in great demand.
