Unreleased K-pop Songs That Went Viral: BLACKPINK's 'Ready for Love,' More

There's no doubt that K-pop artists have plenty of unreleased songs, considering that they go through a careful selection process for every debut or comeback alongside their management agencies. So naturally, some tracks get picked while others don't. But sometimes, artists incorporate their unreleased tracks into new content, and fans get to discover it. There are also times that they get leaked or revealed in interviews.

Unreleased K-pop Songs That Garnered Lots of Attention: BLACKPINK, IVE, More

BLACKPINK "Ready for Love"

"Ready for Love" is nowhere to be found in any of BLACKPINK's albums because it was only featured in the quartet's Netflix documentary in 2020, titled "BLACKPINK" Light Up the Sky." The song instantly captured fans' hearts with its addicting melody and the girls' unmatched vocals, and so many BLINKs are asking YG Entertainment for its official release or for it to be included in the quartet's new album.

In the credits of the documentary film, it was revealed that "Ready for Love" was written by Teddy Park (the group's usual songwriter and producer) together with Kush, 24, VVn, and Bekuh BOOM.

IVE "Dear Cupid"

While "Dear Cupid" was revealed to the public, it isn't included in IVE's album. This song was only featured in the new girl group's promotion video for their new title track "LOVE DIVE" (from their new single album of the same name). The said video came out on March 21, 2022, and some fans expected that "Dear Cupid" would be one of the songs in "LOVE DIVE," but it wasn't.

2NE1 "Blame It On Your Love"

Another unreleased K-pop song by a girl group that became a hot topic is 2NE1's "Blame It On Your Love," which Minzy revealed to be the supposed title track of their second and final Korean studio album "Crush."

During her appearance in KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung Soo's Radio Show" in February 2021, Minzy shared that 2NE1 received a demo track sometime around late 2013 to early 2014. She added that while they were preparing to record "Blame it on your love," they received other songs to add to "Crush," and in the end, "Blame it on your love" was excluded from the final tracklist of "Crush."

The demo they got featured the chorus line "Blame it on your love." Minzy sang this part during the broadcast to let the listeners know how it went. If you think the chorus in 2NE1's "Blame It On Your Love" sounds like that of BLACKPINK's "As If It's Your Last," you heard it right.

It turns out that "Blame It On Your Love" was released as a BLACKPINK song under a different title: "As If It's Your Last." The difference is that instead of "majimak cheoreom," 2NE1's version had "blame it on your love" in the chorus.

TWICE NAYEON "POP!" (Leaked Version)

Finally, prior to the release of TWICE Nayeon's solo album "IM NAYEON," her title song "POP!" was leaked online, particularly the chorus part. While some ONCEs were surprised, others found it funny as it's allegedly similar to TWICE's "I'm Gonna Be a Star," which many fans are well aware is the song that Nayeon dislikes. The supposed reason behind it is because her only line in the track is "I'm gonna be a star," and she repeats it several times throughout the song.
