BIGBANG G-Dragon once again flaunted how influential he is after THIS item's price shot up four times its original cost when he was spotted wearing it.

'G-Dragon Shoes' Goes Viral, Resell Price Quadrupled

On July 13, E-Daily reported on G-Dragon's "effect" on the market for shoe reselling following the viral "GD shoes."

In particular, GD was re-illuminated in the market after he sported an original canvas low sneakers during his appearance at the airport before the Chanel fashion shows.

Aside from wearing the sneakers to match his look, he also showcased the shoes as he returned home through Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 on May 12 after finishing the Chanel 2022/23 Cruise Show.

As the "Still Life" singer is a well-known fashion icon, netizens and fans immediately looked into his OOTDs and discovered that the male idol was recently obsessed with the sneakers from Maison Yasuhiro Mihara brand.

The sneakers were initially released in July 2020 for around 300,000 won ($230). Its design features a yellowish vintage color and a rubber midsole that seems to melt.

However, after "GD shoes" went viral, their prices soared. As of July 13, the Maison Miyahara Yasuhiro's original canvas low sneakers (natural colors) are being traded for 1.2 million won to 1.3 million won. ($920 to $1,000) at Korean resell platforms such as "KREAM" and "SOLDOUT," respectively. This is about four times its original cost.

In fact, it was traded at 300,000 won to 400,000 won ($230 to $310) until the end of last year.

As of 2022, the sneakers were traded at the highest price of 1,599,000 won ($1,230) as they went viral as "GD shoes."

As resell prices soar, Mihara Yasuhiro's products cannot be found on domestic e-commerce and overseas direct purchase sites. On top of the idol's impact, the prices of sneakers in other colors are also rising.

The market for sneakers resell is still hot even in the recession as the enthusiasm of the MZ generation continues, thanks to "fashion icon" GD.

On the other hand, following BIGBANG's release of its digital single, "Still Life," in April, GD is currently busy with his solo works.

He notably raised anticipation about his new work after teasing his collaboration with Baz Luhrmann, the director of the "Elvis" film.

On July 12, he posted several photos and the caption, "ELVIS2022."

The released pictures include Elvis Presley-related props, the "King of Rock and Roll." However, G-Dragon's colorful accessories are the most eye-catching, such as his dice-shaped earrings and necklaces.

On July 14, he gave another glimpse of his upcoming release by sharing his song cover of Elvis Presley's hit, "Can't Help Falling In Love."
