Former IZ*ONE member Choi Yena became the sixth solo female K-pop artist to achieve THIS in terms of first-week album sales. Now, she is trailing after BLACKPINK Lisa and Rosé, TWICE Nayeon, IU, and Girls' Generation Taeyeon. Read on to know the soloist's milestone!

Choi Yena Becomes 6th Female K-pop Solo Artist To Achieve THIS Milestone With 'SMARTPHONE'

According to a report, Choi Yena's 2nd mini-album "SMARTPHONE" made waves after it sold whopping 117,382 copies.

Those numbers are only from August 3 to 9, according to Hanteo. Also, the numbers have doubled since her first album "SMiLEY," which sold 64,073 album copies.

After releasing "SMiLEY," Yena came back on August 3 with her new mini-album "SMARTPHONE," another bubblegum pop that will make the listener happy and excited with its colorful music video and bouncy rhythm.

With all the "girl crush" debuts and comebacks, for many Jigumis, or as how Yena's fans are called, her releases are definitely a breath of fresh air.

Choi Yena's "SMARTPHONE" is a combination of cute and fun, with a bit of edge as Yena raps half of the song.

Choi Yena Talks About IZ*ONE

In episode 6 of rapper and entertainment star Lee Youngji's "My Alcohol Diary," she asked Yena if she misses IZ*ONE.

Choi Yena then answered that she truly misses her former group. She also shared that she is the type of person who cannot handle loneliness. She added that it is one of the reasons she is living with her brothers again.

However, she also said that she is happy with being a solo artist now. She is not the type of person who doesn't do anything when she's having difficult thoughts.

"It's best to do well according to what you are destined to do," she said.

She further elaborated, "No one expected that a group called IZ*ONE will form. A lot of people ask me about IZ*ONE and I think there was nothing more worthy [to] experience than it. Who will ever experience something like this? It's a very thankful experience. How can a thankful experience like this come to me? I am thankful for all these moments."

Choi Yena is thankful for what IZ*ONE has done for her. She is also thankful for MNET and the members of the girl group.

Now, she wants to focus as a solo singer and do her best to achieve things that she has set her mind to.
