BLACKPINK Gains Notable Achievements, Reactions Following 'PINK VENOM' Release

Following the pre-release song, "PINK VENOM," BLACKPINK once again proved its status as the "biggest girl group in the world" with explosive reactions from fans, evident by its remarkable achievements a day after its release.

BLACKPINK's 'PINK VENOM' Hits Major Local, Global Charts

It's only been a day since BLACKPINK dropped their new song, "PINK VENOM," but it's already dominating domestic and international charts!

On August 20, YG Entertainment, the agency of the quartet announced:

"BLACKPINK's "PINK VENOM," which was released at 1 p.m. KST on the 19th reached the top of the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart in 69 regions, showing even popularity distribution in four continents: North and South America, Europe, Asia, as well as Oceania."

Aside from the global charts, BLACKPINK also swept the domestic music charts. Immediately after its release, the track sits atop Bugs, Vibes and Genie.

The quartet also conquered the first spot in the MelOn Top 100, which has been changed to a 24-hour usage and real-time user aggregation method. Impressively, just an hour after, it entered the third place in an hour and consistently increased its ranking, turning on a green light for an "All Kill" chart.

BLACKPINK's 'PINK VENOM' Surpasses 70M YouTube Views in 15 Hours

Aside from music charts, the song's official music video has been gaining explosive popularity on YouTube as well.

"PINK VENOM" MV which broke the top title of a K-pop girl group in the field with about 2.5 million simultaneous YouTube Premiere users, surpassed 70 million views in about 15 hours after its release.

This broke the record of its mega-hit, "How You Like That" MV, which took 19 hours and 55 minutes to reach the same number of views.

As of writing, "PINK VENOM" surpassed 80M views 21 hours after its release, and fans are focused if they will break their current record of reaching 100 million views in 32 hours among K-pop girl group music videos.

BLACKPINK Receives Rave Reviews Following Release of 'PINK VENOM'

BLACKPINK, the global girl group that returned to the music scene after a year and 10 months is also gaining positive feedback from K-pop enthusiasts and media.

Internet users and fans conveyed their reactions to the song through various online communities and SNS, praising the quartet.

Some of the comments says:

  • "As expected from BLACKPINK, their songs are addictive."
  • "I'm excited to see them performing the song live!"
  • "BLACKPINK didn't fail to meet my expectations. Congratulations!"

Leading foreign media such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME, SCMP, and The Times are expressing high expectations for the four members' move as well.

The U.S. Billboard especially highlighted BLACKPINK's unique identity in the new song, and NME praised them, saying:

"BLACKPINK has begun to conquer the world. 'PINK VENOM' is a perfect work that combines the individuality and talents of the four members."
