BLACKPINK is the First Female Group to Land No. 1 on Spotify's Global Top 50
Recently on August 19, BLACKPINK made their highly-awaited return with their pre-release single "Pink Venom," which is set to be part of their upcoming second full-length album "BORN PINK."
Following the release of the song, "Pink Venom" has, unsurprisingly, been dominating music charts both domestic and international.
To add to BLACKPINK's growing achievements, "Pink Venom" made its impressive debut by landing at No. 1 on major streaming platform Spotify's Global Top Songs chart as of August 20 local time.
This means that "Pink Venom" has become the first-ever Korean-language song to top the chart in Spotify history. In fact, the only other K-pop artist to achieve such a feat is boy group BTS with their English-language single "Dynamite," which took No. 1 on the chart back in 2020.
Not only that, but this also means that BLACKPINK has become the first-ever female group from any country and K-pop group to top Spotify's Global Top Songs chart.
In addition to this, "Pink Venom" had also racked up 7,937,046 streams on Spotify on its first day of release, surpassing American singer Beyoncé's record of 5.1 million streams for her song "BREAK MY SOUL."

Other achievements of "Pink Venom" outside of Spotify is on Youtube. Back on August 20, the music video for "Pink Venom" amassed more than 86.2 million views in just 24 hours of its release.
Although Youtube has yet to officially confirm its 24-hour view count, "Pink Venom" may have already set a new record for the highest view count achieved by a music video released in 2022 in its first 24 hours.
It is also still in the running to beat their personal record. BLACKPINK's current record is 86.3 million views, which was set by their song "How You Like That" in 2020.
