BLACKPINK's 'BORN PINK' Pre-Orders Become Highest for Any Female K-pop Artist
On Aug. 18, YG Entertainment announced through press releases that BLACKPINK's "BORN PINK" had surpassed 1.5 million stock pre-orders in one week. This marks an outstanding new record for the quartet.
An agency representative confidently commented that it's certain the group will exceed two million stock pre-orders and it's possible for the record to surpass even three million.

Back in October 2020, BLACKPINK became the first K-pop girl group to surpass one million pre-orders with "THE ALBUM." Since then, only aespa's "Girls" has managed to break the record after it racked up a total of 1,610,517 stock pre-orders.
But, BLACKPINK eventually re-claimed the title of the female K-pop act with the highest stock pre-orders in history.
On Aug. 25, YG Entertainment revealed that BLACKPINK's "BORN PINK" has now surpassed two million pre-orders- becoming the first-ever album by a female K-pop artist to reach the mark. It is also now the only third K-pop album in 2022 to rack up two million stock pre-orders, following SEVENTEEN's "Face the Sun" and NCT Dream's "Glitch Mode."

YG Entertainment said, "As there are about three weeks left until the album release date (Sept 16), it's worth looking forward to selling more than three million copies in addition to the already confirmed 'Double Million Seller' title."
The latest number of pre-orders of BLACKPINK's "BORN PINK" signals the quartet's potential achievement of becoming the first female K-pop act to ever sell two million copies with one album, as well as the first female Korean artist to have two different million-selling albums.
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment has recently given an update on the group's preparation for the release of their second full-length album next month.

On Aug. 24, the company said that the four BLACKPINK members are currently working hard to film the music video for their upcoming music at a site in Gyeonggi province. They added that the support and love from global fans have been a great strength to the girls.
A representative also shared that all the songs in "BORN PINK" will write BLACKPINK's new history, but the title song in particular will be a song that "can shock global music fans." They continued that the music video for the track will raise the status of K-pop "with a novelty that has yet to be seen."

BLACKPINK 'Pink Venom' Takes 1st Win on 'Show Champion'
In other news, BLACKPINK has earned their first trophy for "Pink Venom" on the Aug. 24 episode of "Show Champion."
On that day, the candidates for first place were Girls' Generation "FOREVER 1," NewJeans' "Attention," The Boyz's "WHISPER," and "Choi Yena's "SMARTPHONE," in addition to BLACKPINK's "Pink Venom."
Also, recently, BLACKPINK has dropped their "Pink Venom" dance practice video on YouTube. It has reached 10 million views just 10 hours following its release on Aug. 25 at midnight KST.
