TWICE released their anticipated comeback album "BETWEEN 1&2" yesterday August 26 with the title track "Talk That Talk". After debuting at number 87, the girl group's song is now (August 27, 9 AM Korean time) at number 38.
TWICE's Unexpected Charting With "Talk That Talk"
Many ONCEs were expecting TWICE to join the likes of BLACKPINK, IVE, NewJeans, and Girls' Generation who are all in the top 5 of the MelOn charts.
However, they debuted in real-time at number 30 only. Fans are expecting the ladies to even increase their chart rankings as they perform on different music shows.
Nevertheless, their other songs in the album also charted on Melon Latest 24 Hits (4 weeks). As of yesterday August 26, 2 PM Korean time "Talk That Talk" debuted at number 11.
At number 33 is their English song "Queen of Hearts", followed by number 42 "Basics" which was written by Chaeyoung. Next is "Trouble" at number 44, and "Brave" at number 48.
"Gone" also debuted on the MelOn chart at number 57 and a level lower is Dahyun-written song, "When We Were Kids".
TWICE "BETWEEN 1&2" First Day Hanteo Sales
TWICE has surpassed its own record for its first-day sales record. "BETWEEN 1&2" recorded a whooping 288,836 album sales on its first day of release.
Their previous record was with their "MORE & MORE" album. It sold a total of 274,472 physical albums. Their "Formula of Love: O+T=<3" album sold 238,631 copies while "Taste of Love" recorded a total of 180,236 albums sold.
TWICE Enters Worldwide Charts
"BETWEEN 1&2" debuted at number 2 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart while their title track "Talk That Talk" debuted at number 6 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart.
Other achievements by the group are "Alcohol-Free" and "BDZ" getting gold certification by RIAJ for surpassing 50 million streams in Japan while "YES or YES" has been certified RIAJ Platinum for surpassing 100 million streams in Japan.
TWICE First Comeback in 2022
"Talk That Talk" is TWICE's first comeback this year and after nine months. According to an interview, the members are nervous and excited at the same time as they get to see their fans again.
Due to COVID, they did not perform in front of a live audience during their last comeback. this time, they will be hearing their fans' cheers and screams as they perform in front of them.
TWICE members don't really care about the album and their song's performance that much. They want to make their fans happy and proud with their output more than anything.
Mina said in the same interview that they want the sincerity of the album to reach their fans and make them feel their love.
TWICE Comeback Performance at KBS "Music Bank"
TWICE performed "Talk That Talk" at KBS' music show yesterday August 26. Since their leader Jihyo got COVID, she was not able to perform together with the group. So only eight members were present to greet their fans after a long time.
TWICE also performed their latest song on MTV "Fresh Out Live", but with complete members as this was pre-recorded before Jihyo got COVID.
