BTS' 'Proof' Collector's Edition Price Shocks Many- Here's the Reason
On Aug. 29, BTS announced a new edition of their anthology album "Proof," which came out this past June. The group has previously released two versions of the album: Compact Edition and Standard Edition.
The "Compact Edition," which costs $22.90 USD on Weverse, includes 3 CDs, a booklet, a postcard, a photocard, a mini-poster, and a discography guide.
The "Standard Edition" is $69.90 USD and comes with the same content as the other edition, plus more photo books.

BTS' "Proof" (Collector's Edition), on the other hand, features even more goodies, however, it comes with an even higher price.
As per Big Hit Music, the new edition captures the "essence of the identity of BTS."
The company also said that BTS' "Proof" (Collector's Edition) will be a "true collection of the group's activities of their first chapter as artists." It is said that fans will feel the identity of the group throughout the album, from special content including in-depth interviews with each member to the packaging of various compositions to express the band.
The "Collector's Edition" is a limited edition, and that the sales of the album will not reflect on music charts at the agency's request.

The upcoming new "Proof" edition is complete with new and different contents, including seven premium pictures, one poster, one book, seven AR cards, seven 3D cards, seven photocards (version A,) seven photocards (version B), and a user guide.
Depending on the location, the price of BTS' "Proof" (Collector's Edition) varies. The album costs $220 USD in Korea, $275 USD in the United States- and this doesn't even include the $114 USD shipping fee, making the total price nearly $400 USD.
Due to the insanely high price, many ARMYs (BTS' fans) decided to boycott the album. They have described the label's actions as "hypocritical" and "unethical" as they continue to release overpriced goods on account of becoming a collector and profiting off of fans' love and loyalty to the boys.
