When FNC Entertainment debuted their girl group AOA, who is also known as Ace of Angels, they originally consisted of eight members in the lineup. But through the years, members of the group withdrew from AOA for various reasons. And one of those members who withdrew was Yuna. Over a year after Yuna's departure, what has she been up to?
Keep on reading to know Yuna's current status.
Yuna's Activities Before Leaving AOA
As a member of AOA, Yuna served as the main vocalist and keyboardist of the group. She had been with the group since their debut on July 30, 2012 when they released their debut song "Elvis" as part of their single album "Angel's Story."
With AOA, Yuna participated with the group in all of their promotional activities, having released the hit songs "Miniskirt," "Short Hair," "Like a Cat," "Heart Attack," "Good Luck," and "Excuse Me."
Yuna also joined the group in their appearances on broadcasts, endorsement deals, and magazine pictorials. In particular, she competed with the group on the Mnet program Queendom back in 2019.
Yuna was also part of two of AOA's sub-units, AOA Cream and AOA Black.
Why Did Yuna Leave AOA?
During her time with the group, Yuna was an active member of AOA and was able to release new music every year since their debut up until 2019.
However, in July 2020, the entire group became involved in a scandal after former member Mina, who left the group on May 13, 2019 to pursue her acting career, made a series of Instagram posts.

In these posts, she claimed that the group's leader Jimin had bullied her for the past ten years she was in the group. She alleges that the bulling was so severe that it cam a point where she self-harmed and attempted to commit suicide on several occasions.
Following these claims by Mina, AOA ultimately halted all of their activities. FNC Entertainment and Jimin each issued separate apologies to Mina regarding the bullying, with Jimin withdrawing from the group and announcing her retirement from the entertainment industry on July 4, 2020 due to the scandal.
The next few months for AOA became rocky, as Mina continued to air on social media the alleged bullying she endured during her time with the group. Although Mina's bullying claims were only directed at Jimin, the other members ended up getting dragged into the scandal.
In addition to Mina's claims, even media outlet Dispatch released got involved by releasing transcripts of the discussions between Mina and AOA, which alleges that Mina was not as innocent as she seemed.
Throughout all of this, Yuna was silent and refrained from commenting on the scandal. But after over two years of no activities as a group, in addition to the bullying scandal, Yuna did not renew her contract with FNC Entertainment in January 2021. Thus, officially leaving the group and label after nearly a decade.

After withdrawing from AOA, Yuna decided to step out of the spotlight and live life as a non-celebrity. She ended up becoming a certified yoga and pilates instructor, and would often share photos involving her new job on social media.
