STAYC J Reveals Why Her Mother Wanted Her to Fail K-pop Auditions
J, along with her fellow STAYC members, are receiving a lot of love from the public and are slowly making their way to become one of the top rookie girl groups among the fourth generation. And like the case for most idols, fans are always curious to know how they ended up debuting as an idol and what their debut journey was like.
In the case of member J, her debut journey started when her mother unintentionally helped her despite wanting the opposite outcome.
In a past interview, the "YOUNG LUV" songstress revealed how she managed to become a K-pop trainee and eventually making her debut.
When she was asked when she started dreaming of becoming a singer, J explained that she didn't bother studying when she was younger, and only liked to sing. But it came to a point where her mother decided to send her to an audition in the hopes that she fails and realizes that becoming a singer was not what she should be aiming for.
"Ever since I was young, I didn't really study. I just sang and sang, so my mom sent me to an audition. She was like, 'She has got to fail an audition once so that she realizes what reality is like,'" J revealed.
J added that her mother thought she was too loud as well with her singing, so her mother got J to audition for an agency to experience "reality."

But in a interesting turn of events, J ended up passing her audition, much to the surprise of both the mother and daughter. Not long after she passed her first audition, she began her training. However, she withdrew after a couple of years.
J said, "But I ended up passing the audition, which [my mom] didn't expect. I began training after that, but I quit a couple of years later. Once I quit training, I did everything that I wasn't allowed to do as a trainee."
But after withdrawing from being a trainee, she soon realized that she still wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Thus, she ended up auditioning for her current agency, High Up Entertainment.

"At one point though, I was like, 'What am I doing right now? Which career path am I going to take if I don't choose that one?' It turned out, my dream to become a part of the industry was bigger than I had [initially] thought. So I auditioned for my current agency, and that is how I made my debut," J explained.
Prior to joining High Up Entertainment, it was revealed that J used to be a trainee at JYP Entertainment for three years. During her time there, she took both acting and K-pop lessons.
After leaving JYP Entertainment, J was introduced to a casting director at High Up Entertainment, subsequently becoming a trainee for a year before debuting as the sub vocalist and rapper of STAYC.
