ONEUS Makes Comeback With 8th Mini-Album 'MALUS' & Lead Single 'Same Scent'
On September 5 KST, six-member boy group ONEUS returns with new music as their officially drop their eighth mini album on various music platforms.
"MALUS" is the boy group's latest album, which came nearly four months after the release of their seventh mini album entitled "TRICKSTER" back on in May of this year.
"MALUS," which means "apple" and "evil" in Latin, contains the incomparable charms of ONEUS. The album makes use of the forbidden tree and apple in its imagery, which refers to the forbidden fruit. The six forbidden fruits also represent the individuality of each of the ONEUS members.

The new album features a total of seven tracks, with "Same Scent" serving as the lead single for "MALUS." In addition, an English version of their lead single is also included in the album. Other tracks included in this album are "Intro: Eden," "Stupid Love," "Gravitation," "Mermaid," and "Full Moon."
For "Same Scent," members Leedo and Ravn took part in the writing of the lyrics, which conveys the hope that "your scent," or that of a lover's, will never vanish from their memory. In which that same scent that is present everywhere is what makes them feel desperate as well.

ONEUS Talks More About 'MALUS' Album
Regarding the concept of their album, ONEUS wanted to present something new, which is why the chose a more sexy concept for "MALUS."
On the album, the group explained, "If our previous works showed [our] music and performances that focused on story and narrative, we wanted to show a new side this time. We wanted to show ONEUS' sexiness intuitively."
Thus, "Same Scent" features the ONEUS members' deep vocals, accompanied by guitar sounds to complete the song. Its lyrics feature a more sensual side, showcasing the members' hope to express a mature musical color.
In particular, to perfectly capture such an image, member Hwanwoong also participated in creating the song's choreography. In the music video, ONEUS made use of the water to capture the emotions and showcased their synchronization.

They dubbed the point choreography for "Same Scent" as "tears don't stop," which features the action of wiping away the tears.
ONEUS added, "The advantage is that the members' vocal colors can be heard well. Unlike the songs that I have heard a long time ago, the instruments are arranged well so that the [vocal colors] can be heard."
