GOT7 Jay B "go Up" MV & "Be Yourself" Album Officially Released
On Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. KST, Jay B returned to the music scene with his new EP "Be Yourself." This new mini-album contains the message of expressing oneself freely without worrying about what other people think or say.
"Be Yourself" is Jay B's first album under his new agency, CDZNA Records, and the GOT7 member's second EP overall following "SOMO: FUME" (which he dropped last August under HIGHR MUSIC).
Moreover, the new EP comes in two versions and each one includes photobooks, photocards, posters, and more.

"go UP" serves as the title track of Jay B's "Be Yourself" album as it carries the main message of the EP out of six songs included. "go UP" is a funk pop song that combines the 90's New Jack Swing with the funk genre. It talks about escaping the expectations of other people and letting go of the burden to find true freedom.
Jay B is credited as a songwriter of "go UP." About the story he wants to tell through the song, he said in an interview with CDZNA Records, "I wanted to convey the meaning of letting go of oneself's burden and living happily rather than getting stressed out. Instead of focusing on the heaviness of the topic, I tried to approach it in a pleasant and comfortable way."

When asked about the most important listening point of the title track, the idol said, "I tried to sing a little differently from the singing style I have shown so far. And I think my ad-libs and music sound interesting in the middle. Also, the introductory narration seems to set the mood for the beginning."
Meanwhile, Jay B's "go UP" MV starts with the GOT7 member waking up with a hangover after a party. The idol can then be seen having fun with other people in different places, including a skate park, an alley, and more. He can also be heard singing lines like "Don't even care what they said," "Can you please, don't kill my vibe," "Yes, we go up, if we let 'em down," among others.

GOT7 Jay B Introduces B-Side Songs From His "Be Yourself" Album
In addition to "go UP," other tunes in Jay B's "Be Yourself" album are "Break It Down," which features Sik-K, "Livin'," "The way we are," "Fountain of Youth," and "Holyday."
The GOT7 member directly took part in the creation of all these six songs as a songwriter and/or composer under the name Def., solidifying his reputation as an all-rounder.
During the interview, he was asked about what he paid attention to while working on the songs. Jay B shared, "Rather than making love songs, I wanted to talk about freedom or friendship. There were many songs that were written about love in my previous work, so I thought I would like to talk about a slightly different topic this time around."

He later introduced all five B-side songs:
"Break it Down," which features many experimental elements, has a folk guitar loop while the chorus is intense and powerful.
"Livin'" and "The way we are," which are R&B-based pop and urban genres, are songs that fans can listen to comfortably and can make anyone nod their head lightly while listening.
An urban and pop genre, "Fountain of Youth" contains a story of friendship, and this song also contains the message Jay B wants to convey to his fans and friends. It is a track with a youthful vibe and pop music from the early 2000s.
Finally, Jay B described "Holyday" as a gospel-based song that gets better the more you listen to it. He also suggested reading the lyrics while listening to it.
