Ahead of SHINee Jonghyun's 5th death anniversary, a Korean media outlet editor described in an article how her life was influenced by the late idol.
Here's her heartwarming anecdote.
Editor Tells Anecdote About How She Became SHINee Jonghyun's Fan
On December 12, six days ahead of SHINee Jonghyun's 5th death anniversary (Dec. 18), an editor published an essay on the Korean media platform Art Insight about late idol with the title, "The person you think of in December."
As Editor Yoon Jiwon started the article, she started by describing the person whom she think of when the month starts.
"He was a person who comforted the public with warm music. He was a person who sincerely loved his work, worked endlessly, and made new music. And it's the fifth anniversary of his death."
The main character of the essay is none other than the late SHINee Jonghyun.
As the narrative continues, Editor Yoon stated that she preferred music from the mid to late 20th century, rather than the popular music released this year.
Among them, the representative song is "Breathe" by Lee Hi.
"I thought the lyrics were very pretty. It's always a concern whenever I comfort someone, but I think I and others have different views on sincere comfort.
Therefore, I tend to be careful about vocabulary selection or the breathing of sentences in that it can be hurtful to others to be the comfort I gave. To me, the lyrics were straightforward and very warm.
'Breathe,' which came out in 2016, is still often heard whenever I feel suffocatingly depressed."
Just then, she found out that the song and SHINee's "View" were written by the same person, which is Jonghyun. This was when she started to show interest in the poet|artist.
On the same day, it snowed. Editor Yoon narrated that she was tired that day and decided to rest and woke up when it was already dark.
Just then, her friends broke the news to her.
"What are you trying to say?"
"Do you know SHINee's Jonghyun?"
"Yeah."
"Well...”
The editor continued by narrating how hard it was for her to go to his funeral.
"Was I a big fan of his? Though, that wasn't it. Because it was clearly not, I still don't understand why I went to the ceremony and had such a hard time. But then, looking for him, I thought I would have loved him very much if I had been interested in him earlier."
Editor Shares Dream About SHINee Jonghyun
Before she concluded the essay, Editor Yoon also revealed a dream she had about the late idol.
"Snow was piled up on the branches of the fir tree that made up the forest in the white snow. He, white-haired, dressed in white, looked at me with warm eyes and walked toward the white-shining light in the fir forest.
The sadness of why you were having a hard time disappeared with a slight smile in your eyes."
Since then, she decided not to think about it so much, and left heartwarming words.
"I woke up at that moment, and that night I decided not to suffer from this incident anymore. I vowed to make my hope through the warm music he left behind."
