"Not a mentor?" Following the report that Hui will join as a trainee in the upcoming Mnet's survival show, "Boys Planet" drew mixed reactions from K-pop fans.
Amid the news, speculations of discord within PENTAGON also ignited due to THIS.
PENTAGON Hui Confirms Participation in Mnet's 'Boys Planet' - Why Are People Unhappy?
On December 29, Mnet's new survival show, "Boys Planet," set to launch in February, revealed the 98 official candidates who will compete to debut in a global boy group.
Amid the familiar faces unveiled through the cast profile released by Mnet, people were surprised to see that PENTAGON Hui actually participated under his real name, Lee Hoe Taek.
In his profile, Hui expressed his determination on joining the program and said:
"As much as this is a hard challenge, I will make it a good choice."
In the released performance video of the program's theme song, "Here I Am," Hui was also seen performing along with the 97 other participants. This confirms the initial reports that the male idol will appear in the show.

When this reached the attention of K-pop fans, various fans, even the ones outside the fandom, reacted dividedly.
Although some were happy to see him in a show flaunting his outstanding idol skills, many don't think Hui should become a trainee again. Instead, he deserves to become a mentor at least.
His qualifications say it all. Hui made his debut in 2016 with PENTAGON and became notable for their songs "Shine" and "Daisy."
Since then, he actively worked as the group's main vocalist and producer.
In fact, Hui is widely recognized for his outstanding production skills, such as when he created songs for various survival programs, including Mnet's "Produce 101" and "Produce X 101."
The male idol is also the one who produced and composed Wanna One's hit, "Energetic." This is not to mention the long list of albums and drama OSTs he created for various artists.
With this, people are criticizing Cube Entertainment, Hui's agency not for the reason that they let him join the show, but because they seem to not give the idol and the group platform to show their full potential.
Due to this, fans are guessing that Hui decided to join the show to make his group more known.
Although Universe (PENTAGON fandom) is confident that Hui will shine throughout the show, some are skeptical that Mnet will use the idol to create more drama, such as making him a victim of "evil editing."
- "What are you doing, Cube?"
- "He should be a mentor, not a trainee."
- "Really? I'm confused this is happening."
Hui Discord With PENTAGON? Rumor Ignites After Jinho Did THIS
When the news of Hui joining "Boys Planet" has been reported, speculations arose that the appearance of the idol in the program may not have been discussed with his co-PENTAGON members.
This rumor started when a fan discovered Jinho unfollowed Hui on Instagram.
Various online communities made headlines due to the spread of posts, titled "Pentagon member Jinho Unfollowed Hui."
In fact, Jinho's Instagram followers list shows that only Yeo One, Wooseok, Kino, Shinwon, Yuto, and Hongseok were followed except for Hui and Yanan.
Among the two, Yanan is the only one who does not have his personal Instagram yet.
Some speculate that Hui's participation in Mnet's "Boys Planet," a new boy group audition program, may have affected it.
