When you look at how your favorite idols dress, it's easy to get jealous. While you become a fan of the music, there's no denying that there's also a lot of appeal to K-pop. A large part of that comes from the fact that the outfits simply look cool. However, many are wildly expensive and way beyond anything that many could comfortably afford. It's not a good idea to spend all your money on a few pieces of clothing even if you want them very much. There's a way to achieve the same style and confidence without emptying your bank account or ending up in debt.

Choose a theme

While K-pop outfits look great individually, the groups also look amazing because their getups are coordinated. This means that all the pieces they wear go together and also fit the ones their fellow members wear. This is one of the best ways to look put-together, even if you wear something casual and informal. When you come up with a concept for your outfit, you can build around it and add pieces until it all comes together. If you haven't yet discovered your style, experimenting with different options can help you decide what works best for you.

The second step is to mix these styles together. The basic rules of Korean street styling dictate that there's nothing quite as cool as pairing pieces that seem like they don't belong together, such as sneakers and suit jackets or t-shorts with formal skirts or trousers.

Accessories

Accessorizing can genuinely elevate an outfit. The ideal choice is smaller pieces that can integrate well into virtually any ensemble. Thin necklaces, Emerald Cut Moissanite rings and minimalist earrings are the best choices. Largely inconspicuous, these pieces will nevertheless add a touch of assured sophistication to any outfit. Moreover, since they're so versatile, you don't have to worry that they only work with a particular outfit or color combination.

Do your research

Many of the styles you spot idols wearing are derived from Korean street style. There are some pieces that cannot miss from a wardrobe that draws inspiration from K-fashion, including:

  • Oversized, slouchy pieces: T-shirts, jeans, knits and jackets all come under this umbrella. These pieces are comfy and flow with your silhouette.

  • White sneakers: The white sports shoe is a classic, and if you're familiar with Korean style, you already know that it can be paired with anything, from summer skirts to tailored trousers.

  • Skirts and dresses: Korean fashion is the way to go if you enjoy having a feminine style. There are many types of skirts or dresses you can try, either long, short or mid-length, looser or more fitted and from a wide range of materials. Any print goes as well, although florals and pastels are common favorites.

  • Layering: Knowing how to layer your clothes can be tricky sometimes. K-style focuses on it a lot, meaning you have the option to impart all your pieces with renewed versatility. Even if you wear a monochrome fit, the different layers provide structure and make the outfit more interesting.

The most important thing is to wear everything with confidence. A large part of why your idols look so good is their positive attitude and their enthusiasm for everything.
