Super Junior Heechul is once again criticized by K-netizens following his remarks. This time, the idol wasn't only embroiled in one controversy, but a couple of sensitive issues.
Super Junior Heechul Makes Problematic Remarks About Korean Women, Japan + 'Boiru'
On February 10, Kim Heechul appeared as a guest on comedian BJ Choi's internet live broadcast through AfreecaTV.
Since he showed up, the male idol immediately attracted the attention of viewers after people noticed that he was under the influence of alcohol. Just then, the male idol repeatedly made problematic remarks that made Korean netters' blood boil due to anger.
The first reason that made viewers raise their brows was due to his misogynist remark about people behind the "women generation." While talking about him being criticized for "not donating" just because he made it all in private, Heechul started cursing and calling them vulgar names.
Although this online community for women doesn't have a good reputation, especially among K-pop fans, internet users think that it doesn't justify Heechul to swear and generalize the members.
Secondly, Heechul continued by expressing his support and close relationship with Bogyum, a Korean YouTuber who was known for being a misogynist. The idol also claimed that there's nothing wrong with the Bogyum's controversial signature phrase, "boiru" [bogyum + hairu (slang of 'hi')[ which is believed by many that it actually means "c*nt + hairu."
Thirdly, Heechul also spoke against Korea's hostility to Japan and describe it as "b*llshit."
Super Junior Heechul Mentions Cat Moms, Kangin & ASTRO Cha Eun Woo in Problematic Remarks
Along with this, he also talked negatively about women in their 20s to 40s who feed, take care of, or spayed street cats, also known refer to as cat moms.
Among his problematic remarks, what garnered the most attention among K-pop fans were his opinions about former Super Junior Kangin and ASTRO Cha Eunwoo.
As a brief context, Kangin eventually left the group after committing two assaults and DUIs. Heechul then admitted that Kangin truly f*cked up and that he deserved all the criticism he is getting.
But along the way, he defended the latter's violent personality by stating that Kangin is the type who just couldn't stay away from fights, just for example, when he saw a guy harassing a woman.
"At the very least, he wasn't a bad guy to me. He had guts, but he was a very good friend of mine."
Lastly, Heechul portrayed ASTRO Cha Eun Woo as an aggressive guy by describing him as a manly man (real man) who wouldn't just stand up when he saw someone's bullying. He first clarified that they were close to each other.
"Of course, I can see why he is popular. He built such an image on TV, but if he heard about school bullying, he would be like, 'Hyungnim, bring that f*cker here,' and slap them."
He continued:
"He’s such a manly man (Alpha male) who really likes to exercise."
