OMEGA X Continues Activities Amid Dispute With Agency, Group Currently Being Funded By Parents

After winning the lawsuit against Spire Entertainment to suspend their contract validity in January, OMEGA X returned to the music scene this month.

However, the team was reportedly facing difficulties, especially in finance, as they were currently running without an agency.

As a brief background, OMEGA X demanded contract termination against Spire in November 2022 after it was revealed that the CEO and Chairman of the company were abusing and harassing them in various ways, verbally and physically.

On February 11, the 11-member group officially came back to fans by attending the Hanteo Music Awards 2022. This was their first group schedule after the court announced that they can continue their entertainment activities freely after citing an injunction to suspend the validity of its exclusive contract with its agency Spire Entertainment.

At the time, OMEGA X was lauded for their undeniably stronger performances despite struggles for the past months. At the event, they covered songs of SEVENTEEN and Shinhwa, but fans feel emotional the most after the team performed an unreleased song, "Dream," composed by members Hangyeom and Junghoon.

While it seems like OMEGA X is doing well, the team is actually facing difficulties behind the cam.

According to a JTBC report on February 24, the group is currently working in a self-sufficient manner by collecting money from its own pockets due to restrictions on the movement and establishment of a new agency due to unfinished legal disputes with Spire.

The manager, who left the agency with Omega X, is organizing the group's schedule, but it is not easy to continue their activities because there is no group accommodation or practice room available for them.

Due to this, when they decided to start their activities this month, the parents of the 11 members has to fund their hair styling, makeup and clothes rental just to look presentable when they attended the music awards ceremony.

Although OMEGA X succeeded in suspending their contracts with Spire, the dispute between the two parties is still ongoing after Spire challenged the ruling.

As the hearing is likely to lead to a lawsuit on the merits (a lawsuit judging the plaintiff's claim or the appellant's claim of objection), it is expected that it will take some time for the process to be completely terminated.

When the legal dispute is completed, OMEGA X plans to receive investment and push for the establishment of an agency under the name of 11 members. Not only will the album be released, but it will also create a place for fans who silently supported it.
