SMNGG 2023 To Debut in June + Concept

SM Entertainment, home to iconic girl groups including S.E.S, Girls Generation, f(x), Red Velvet and aespa, embarks on the debut of a new female team!

On March 16, it was reported that SM's new girl group, also known as SMNGG 2023 will debut in June.

In particular, the members were selected through a private showcase evaluation held on the 15th with people picked through luck. On this day, the 2023 SM Trainees' Showcase took place in Seoul at 8 p.m. KST.

According to those who attended the exclusive showcase, there are 21 female trainees who were introduced and flaunted their idol skills, but only eight trainees were able to shine their best, leading them to join the final lineup.

As of now, the final members are yet to be unveiled, yet the tentative date of their introduction in the K-pop scene is expected to be between April and May, ahead of their official debut in June.

According to other sources, the remaining members will prepare for another girl group debut set to be launched in the succeeding years.

SM New Girl Group 2023: Here Are Prospective Members

Although the members are yet to take off their veils, there are numerous names who were said to be prospective members, based on insiders.

One trainee who is often mentioned is Helen, who almost debuted in aespa. The Korean-Australian trainee entered SM in 2019 and was initially reported to join the quartet's debut in 2020. However, she didn't make it in the final cut and rumors claimed she left the agency after that. Just then, an insider stated that Helen is still in SM and will most likely join SMNGG as its prospective leader.

Another trainee who's earning attention is Na Ha Eun, who was earlier confirmed to be training under SM to debut in a girl group. Before becoming an SM trainee, she was already popular as a dancer and soloist, known for her impressive cover dances on YouTube. With her fame, she even performed with top-tier artists at MAMA.

Aside from Koreans, rumor says that SMNGG will also consist of international members. One of them is supposed "Lan," who is a Vietnamese born in 2004.

A certain Kim Ouju is also garnering attention as a prospective member, and her visuals are already earning massive praise!

There are more idol trainees' names who were mentioned, yet there are little to no information about them aside from their names.
