f(x) Amber Shares Gaslighting Experience With Ex-Boyfriend: 'I dated a lot of bad guys'

Amber, a member of f(x), revealed that she was gaslighted by her ex-boyfriend, which almost made her experience financial crisis.

On June 7, the idol, who's currently active in China, hosted a live broadcast for the Chinese video-streaming platform Bilibili. There, Amber talked about the topic of "love" with her subscribers, and the story of her ex-boyfriends became the center of the conversation.

Amber confessed that so far, she had only met "bad" guys, also known as boyfriends with "red flags." Amber revealed:

"I've dated a lot of bad guys since I was young. I'm glad I can speak in the past tense now. But, I haven't met the right person yet. I will look. As much as a lot of people believe in marriage, I believe too, I believe in meeting the right person."

Regarding why Amber doesn't have any public relationship before, the singer explained:

"I don't have an open relationship if I don't feel confident or stable with 'the person' because I have a job to do. But some of my ex-boyfriends were also reluctant to have a secret relationship."

As the topic continued, Amber looked back at the past and confessed that she actually suffered from having an extremely manipulative ex-boyfriend.

Unfortunately, she was completely oblivious about it, if it weren't for her friends pointing it out.

"My friends would later say, '[You're] being gaslighted.' I didn't know until they told me that I should be important."

Amber narrated that her ex-boyfriend seemed to have used her for money.

"My ex-boyfriend was a really bad guy."

Despite almost causing Amber to be broke for using most of her money, the "Hot Summer" singer pointed out that her ex-boyfriend would still make her feel like a bad person especially when they called it quits.

As a result of these experiences, Amber told fans that it was the inspiration for her song, "Don't Dance."

"I'm good to anyone because I want to, but I'm tired of it. Nevertheless, I still want to remain a good person."

Meanwhile, Amber, who is a Taiwanese-American, made her debut in 2009 through SM Entertainment's group f(x). The quintet, hereinafter quartet, made a lot of hit tracks such as "Rum Pum Pum Pum," "Electric Shock," "NU ABO," "Red Light," and more.

However, they are currently on a break from the limelight after late Sulli left the group, while the other members decided to pursue their solo careers.

After Amber's contract with SM ended in 2019, she has been engaged in overseas activities.

Currently, she appears in the re-debut survival audition "Sisters Who Make Waves 2023" broadcast by Mango TV in China.
