Girls' Generation's fans, SONEs, were infuriated after a man tried to touch member Sooyoung without her permission during a fanmeeting.
Girls Generation Sooyoung Embarks on Asian Fanmeeting Tour 2023 'My Muse'
Earlier in September, SNSD Sooyoung officially kickstarted her 2023 Asian fanmeeting tour, "My Muse," which opened in Seoul on the 9th and will run until October 15. Taipei, Taiwan is her last stop.
In particular, Sooyoung's fanmeeting began with the idol meeting her Korean fans at the Bluesquare Mastercard Hall, Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu in Seoul, South Korea.
However, the star's supporters were upset when a Japanese SONE shared a video of a man who tried to touch and get close to Sooyoung. The fan wrote:
"Isn't it impossible for anyone not to touch Sooyoung during group photo? I don't think you can touch them unless the idol gives her consent/initiates the action.
I don't know which country you are from, but the way he did this gesture with his fingers when taking pictures. was so obscene. I can't believe people like this are SONE...I want them banned."

出禁にしてほしいーー.. pic.twitter.com/A6R0GE2RyQ
In the video, a man, who is believed to be SONE, was one of the lucky fans to be invited on the stage to have a photo op with Sooyoung.
Before the photo, the man tried to put/poke Sooyoung's back, fortunately, the idol's staff quickly noticed it and told him to take off his hand and not do it.
Sooyoung who noticed the scene forced a smile on the man, but it was noticeable that she took a deep breath before their photo was taken, seemingly uncomfortable.
When the video spread on Twitter, fans were enraged and called out the unknown guy for doing it to Sooyoung. Regardless of how close the idol and artist's relationship is, fans reminded their co-supporters that there is still a line that shouldn't be crossed, especially when invading their personal space and privacy.
There are also numerous tweets from SONEs expressing their frustrations such as:
i’m so freaking pissed.. this weirdo better not show up on any other fanmeet stops.

being a ‘fan’ doesn’t give you the right to touch sooyoung without her consent. know how to respect her personal space. https://t.co/7zx4At4I1c
call me dramatic and overprotective but i need y'all to keep your hands off sooyoung. just cause you were invited on stage doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, especially if you're a male fan kneeling next to a girl in a short skirt, legs completely naked. don't touch her.

Thank God the staff was there to stop or else he might do something more!
