Chuu Spills the Tea on Her 'Suspicious' Scouting Experience— 'It Wasn’t Particularly Good'

Chuu, set to make her solo debut on October 18th, recently graced the musical variety program, Leemujin Service, where she showcased her remarkable vocal skills and amiable disposition.

During the show, the soloist received recognition for her musical background, having been a practical music and vocal major at the prestigious Hanlim Multi Art School.

Overcoming Self-Doubt and Pursuing the Dream

Intriguingly, Chuu disclosed that she wasn't initially aspiring to become an idol. Despite her status as a "regular student" at Hanlim, she gained popularity thanks to her endearing and vivacious personality, which resonated with her 13,000-plus social media followers.

This burgeoning fame, coupled with her Hanlim Multi Art School affiliation, piqued the interest of entertainment companies.

Chuu's lack of self-confidence and a sense that others at the school might be better suited for stardom initially deterred her from pursuing the path of an idol. However, after some contemplation, she decided to audition with various agencies, eventually achieving her goal of debuting.

The manner in which Chuu was scouted raised questions, as these offers often arrived via direct messages and often seemed dubious. Even when the DMs came from reputable companies, Chuu remained skeptical, doubting their authenticity.

She would respond to some inquiries by citing her mother's opposition to her debut or her own disinterest in becoming an idol. Yet, Chuu confessed that

"Being an idol wasn't [her] dream at the time." She received multiple casting offers, but these offers were, in her words, "suspicious."

In a rather unconventional approach to vetting these suspicious casting DMs, Chuu investigated the senders, occasionally making judgments about their trustworthiness based on their appearance rather than inquiring further about their professional backgrounds.

She amusingly recalled encountering one talent scout's selfie, which she deemed "It wasn't particularly good," but the person had a trustworthy smile, leading her to accept their audition offer.
