aespa Joins List of Financial Times' '25 Most Influential Women of 2023'

On November 30, Financial Times released an exclusive feature presenting the 25 most influential women this 2023, with aespa being one of the special mentions in the list.

According to sources, aespa was brought up through "Hallyu! The Korean Wave" exhibition co-curator, YooJin Choi. The description began expounding on girl groups' impact in the K-pop industry, before making their reign towards an international audience.

"While boy bands have dominated the high tiers of Korean charts, a new wave of girl groups has been climbing their way up the ranks."

Choi then elaborated on aespa's successful album sales, alongside their Coachella performance and world tour. It continued:

"Since they released their first album two years ago, aespa have set their aim and broken a series of records for K-pop girl groups, becoming the first to pass one million first-week sales with three consecutive albums, performing in Coachella, and their world tour."

Choi then talked about aespa's innovative music, vocals, and AI equals, which contributed to the group's large role in forming K-pop's future.

"With their experimentally layered instrumentation, fiery vocals, sci-fi punk AI avatar counterparts (aespa's "ae" refers to "avatar" and "experience"), aespa have pushed the boundaries of K-pop."

aespa Exceeds 1 Million First-Week Sales with 3 Albums in Hanteo, Becomes 1st Girl Group to Do So

In other news, aespa added a new feat to their career, creating history in the Hanteo. On November 17, it was announced that aespa's comeback album "Drama" reached 1,130,379 album copies in its first week.

The data was covered from November 10 to 16, and with this impressive accomplishment, aespa became the first-ever K-pop girl group to surpass 1 million copies of three separate albums in Hanteo, all in its first week of release.

Previously, this feat was also achieved by aespa with their preceding albums "MY WORLD," which garnered 1.37 million copies, and "Girls," which sold out 1,126,068 copies.
