Following disbandment in 2017, former member Chungha shared her current friendship status with I.O.I even after six years. Are they still close to each other?
Chungha Proves Unrelenting Friendship With I.O.I
On December 7, I.O.I-turned-soloist Chungha appeared on the web show, "Domestic Gift Factory," posted on its official YouTube channel Careet.
Hosted by ZE:A Kwanghee, the two shared various topics including their experiences as K-pop group members before they transitioned to solo aetists.
While on this conversation, Kwanghee then recalled the time Chungha was working for I.O.I, a girl group project created through Mnet's "Produce 101."
The girl group debuted in 2016 and made various hits like "Pick Me," "Very, Very, Very," "Downpour," and more.
Unfortunately, they had to disband in 2017 despite their fame, after the validity of the project expired.
When asked if she had recently interacted with them, Chungha gladly revealed friendship with the members even after six years, saying:
"The member of I.O.I that I meet the most is Yeonjung of WJSN. Yeonjung is really nice. First of all, she is a fixed guest on 'Volume Up,' so I see her every Wednesday and yesterday and the day before, Yeonjung, (Choi) Yoojung, (Kim) Doyeon, and I talked until 5 a.m., and until this morning, (Kim) Sejeong, (Im) Nayoung, Doyeon, and I played at my house."
Aside from the aforementioned, Chungha also shared that all members often have a video call and attest to their friendship.
"I think we miss each other so much that we are comforting each other and we have a comradeship, so we also have group video calls sometimes, no, we do it often."
Chungha might agree that being in I.O.I is one of the hardest times for her, but looking back, the idol conveyed how she would still go back to the time when she was in the group if there was a time machine.
She explained:
"I didn't realize, how much I was loved very well (at the time). I'm sad about that because I will never get that much love again."
As the conversation went on, the "Roller Coaster" singer then talked about feeling burnout from being a singer as her main job and narrated:
"I mean, there's something about the entertainment business that can't be talked about. Because of things like that."
Chungha Recent Activities
After parting ways with I.O.I, Chungha pursued a solo career rather than debuting in another girl group and rose as one of the top third-gen solo artists. She created hits like "Roller Coaster," "Gotta Go" and "Snapping."
Regarding her recent status, Chung Ha said:
"I'm working as a radio DJ. I'm getting used to it. I'm preparing hard for my comeback."
In October, Chungha moved to MORE VISION, a label led by Jay Park after leaving MNH Entertainment. She confirmed that she's preparing for a new album with the goal of releasing it early next year.
