Among newcomer idols and stars returning this 2024, who do you anticipate the most? In a survey, K-pop fans selected their Top 8!
On January 16, the popular K-pop fandom site idolpick released the results of the special survey, titled "Who will be the global artist to captivate fans worldwide in 2024?", which was held from January 8 to 14.
In this survey, idols on hiatus for a long time and rookies were nominated for the category, and after 1-week voting, the Top 8 most anticipated artists in 2024 were finally determined!
Lucas Crowned as Most Anticipated Artist in 2024 — What's Next for Idol After NCT?
Based on the results, Lucas was selected as the No. 1 "artist that will capture global fans worldwide" this year.
Among the total 117,472 votes garnered during the survey, 42,850 (36%) belong to the idol.
In particular, Wong Yukhei, famously known as Lucas, is a Hong Kong-born idol who made his face known earlier in 2017 after he was introduced as one of the SM Rookies.
He immediately became one of the fans' favorites for his striking visuals resembling SHINee Minho.

In 2018, he officially debuted as NCT U, and later on joined WayV, a permanent sub-unit based in China in 2019.
With his skills and charisma, he also made it to SM Entertainment's "Avenger super group" called SuperM in the same year.
However, after being embroiled in controversies of gaslighting and manipulating his past girlfriends, Lucas apologized to fans and went on a hiatus for two years until he officially left NCT and WayV in 2023.
While there are concerns about whether he will leave the music scene, Lucas announced last year that he will start anew as a soloist.
While he has yet to release his solo songs, Lucas is actively communicating with fans after opening his personal Bubble.
Top 8 Most Anticipated Artist in 2024: NuNew Chawarin, BTS Jin, HORI7ON, More!
Trailing behind Lucas is Thai actor NuNew Chawarin who amassed 37,904 (30%) of the votes, while the Thai boy group TRINITY ranked fourth.
BTS Jin then ranked third after earning 35,732 votes. While Jin originally built his name as a member of the "biggest boy group in the world" BTS, he is garnering attention from fans regarding his solo endeavors.
Jin, being the oldest member, was the first to enlist in BTS in December 2022. After serving for about a year and a half, he will finally be back in June!
As the rest of the members are also serving in the military, there is a high expectation that Jin will dominate the music scene with his return both as BTS and as a solo artist!
Another K-pop act who entered the Top 5 was the all-Filipino Korea-based boy group HORI7ON.
Although they are all foreigners, they received decent success for releasing their debut track, "SIX7EEN."
Eyes are focused on whether they will be able to surpass their achievements so far in 2024.
To complete the Top 8, ZEROBASEONE Sung Hanbin ranked sixth, followed by PLAVE and LAPILLUS in seventh and eighth, respectively.
