In a startling turn of events during the trial of indicted fraudster Jun Chung Jo on January 24 at the Seoul Eastern District Court, new details emerged surrounding her alleged romantic involvement with popular singer-actress IU.
Fraud and Forgery Charges
Jun Chung Jo, facing charges of fraud totaling 3 billion Won (approximately $2.3 million USD) from 27 individuals, also stands accused of forgery for using a false government ID that misrepresented her biological sex as male.
Additionally, she is charged with manipulating a service contract issued by a CEO, whom she falsely claimed to be related to.
Deceptive Identity and High-Profile Engagements
Previously in the public eye for her engagement to former Olympic fencer Nam Hyun Hee, Jun Chung Jo had portrayed herself as a third-generation conglomerate heir and accomplished businessman.
However, investigations later revealed her false identity and a criminal record linked to fraudulent activities.
Startling Testimony from Nam Hyun Hee's Nephew
During the ongoing trial, a key witness, identified as 'A'-Nam Hyun Hee's nephew-revealed Jun Chung Jo's audacious claims of having lived with IU.
'A' shared that Jun Chung Jo asserted an intimate relationship with the celebrity and even suggested moving to IU's apartment building. He recalled, "I think I was told it's a house worth 30 billion won ($22,490,106 USD), but if you do a pre-payment, you can get a 10% discount."
Jun Chung Jo allegedly urged 'A' to purchase VIP tickets to IU's concert for herself (Nam Hyun Hee )and and to her daughter , claiming a close association with the singer. 'A' noted the difficulty in securing VIP tickets for such a renowned celebrity through mobile channels.
Nam Hyun Hee's Confirmation and IU's Involvement
In a police statement, Nam Hyun Hee herself supported the claims that Jun Chung Jo boasted of a past romantic relationship with IU.
