BTS Jungkook, (G)I-DLE Soyeon, More Promoted as Full Members in KOMCA

On February 1, Korean news outlets reported that numerous Korean artists have been promoted by the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA). According to sources, the organization contained around 51,000 registered composers and lyricists as of January 2024.

While any artist who is a copyright holder can join KOMCA and be considered a junior member, the "full membership" status would only occur when a total of 30 junior members are selected by the association's board of directors.

In the mainstream aspect, 27 members are selected from the category, while the remaining three are chosen from the non-mainstream one. This 2024, numerous well-known Korean artists were promoted as full members in the association.

It included artists such as BTS Jungkook, (G)I-DLE Soyeon, SEVENTEEN Vernon, and BOL4 Ahn Ji Young. Moreover, it also promoted VERSACHOI, TOIL, Code Kunst, 250, and Ahn Ye Eun.

Jungkook is BTS's youngest member, and even before his debut as a soloist, the "Dynamite" singer had already garnered praise for his talent. His contributions to BTS's songs such as "Outro: Love Is Not Over," "Still With You," and "Magic Shop" are proof of his creativity.

The singer is also credited for his lyrical contribution to the 2022 hit "Dreamers," the official soundtrack for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

With this feat, Jungkook has now followed fellow bandmate Suga, who was promoted to a full member in 2018, as well as RM and J-Hope, who acquired the status in 2020.

In (G)I-DLE's case, leader Jeon Soyeon's contribution largely impacted the girl group's road to success. Soyeon isn't just known as one of the best rappers in the K-pop industry but is also a well-loved music producer, who isn't afraid to deviate from the norm.

Soyeon is recognized for being hands-on in (G)I-DLE's music releases, whether in lyrics or compositions. The idol has produced both title and B-side tracks from (G)I-DLE's discography, with "LATATA," "HANN," "Oh My God," "Senorita" "Tomboy," "Allergy," "Queencard," being a few.

The rapper's self-producing talent extends outside of (G)I-DLE's discography since she has also written for other artists such as SNSD Hyoyeon in "Dessert," Colde in "New Vision," and Ravi in "Ani."

Meanwhile, Vernon is recognized for his songwriting and producing skills in SEVENTEEN by contributing to the group's title and side tracks.

Since 2015, Vernon has participated in songs such as 'Adore U," "Jam Jam," "Mansae," "Pretty U," "HIT," "Super, "God of Music," and many more.

Congratulations to all artists for this achievement!
