BABYMONSTER has secured a Pepsi commercial. But why are they being mocked by Korean netizens? Keep on reading for all the details.
BABYMONSTERS Mocked By K-Netizens Following Pepsi CF
On February 15, 2024, a post titled "BAEMON became the ambassadors of Pepsi" was uploaded to a popular South Korean online community forum.
The author did not leave any captions in their post. Instead, they shared several screenshots from the girl group's commercial for the soda brand.
The post soon garnered attention on the forum, with people criticizing the girl group.

While the ad itself did not contain anything controversial, many wondered how the girl group was able to bag an ad deal for a brand as big as Pepsi despite their lackluster popularity.
Many noted that the girl group is relatively unknown among non-K-pop fans, leaving many to wonder why they were selected as models for the brand.

Others implied that the girl group only scored the Pepsi ad because of the influence of their entertainment agency, YG Entertainment.
However, others noted that the ad was for Pepsi Thailand and not Pepsi Korea. As the girl group has two Thai members, Chiquita and Pharita, it is likely they are popular enough in the country to score a huge brand deal, such as Pepsi.
Some comments read,
- "Wow, it must be nice to be from a big company. Even if you have no popularity, you can still film ads like that."
- "Wow, they are a Pepsi ambassador, even if their reputation is like this."
- "They aren't even a K-pop group, so stop giving them attention. They are just a group with Japanese and Thai members."
- "Isn't this in Thailand? It makes sense because they have Thai members."
- "Yang Hyun Suk is really working hard behind the scenes..."
