Is There 'Beef' Between IU and Lee Hyori?
On February 19, 2024, a post titled "Seems like IU and Lee Hyori cut each other off" was uploaded to a popular South Korean online community forum. In the post, the original poster (OP) speculated that the two K-pop soloists are no longer friends.
It was noted that the two used to be close friends. In 2017, IU worked as an "employee" in Lee Hyori's JTBC show, "Hyori's Homestay." The two remained on friendly terms for two to three years.

However, there have been no interactions between the two since then. In fact, the author noted that they do not even mention each other anymore, and they do not follow each other on Instagram.
What really raised eyebrows is how Lee Hyori is currently hosting the show "The Seasons: Red Carpet." Several idols who are promoting right now have appeared on the show, such as (G)I-DLE. IU also recently had her comeback, but it was noted she does not have a scheduled appearance on the show.
Instead, IU will hold a concert and embark on a world tour in March.
Many took to the comment section to share their thoughts. The post garnered nearly 200,000 views and hundreds of comments.
K-Netz Discusses Possible 'Beef' Between IU & Lee Hyori
Korean netizens noted that the reason they are not close could be because of their different personalities. IU is more introverted and thinks before talking, while Lee Hyori is outgoing and straight-forward. On top of that, Lee Hyori is 14 years older than IU, meaning they may have had an age gap they could not look past.
However, some were convinced IU may not like Lee Hyori. On Instagram, IU follows a wide range of people—her staff members, people from the beauty salon she visits, several entertainers, and even non-celebrities. However, she does not follow Lee Hyori. People believe this is a sign that they may have fallen out.
Some comments read,
- "I think that anyone can see that they did not match well together. They were just colleagues. Just because they filmed a show together does not mean they have to be close to each other."
- "You could tell immediately they did not get along. Plus, they have a huge age gap."
- "IU followed everyone on Instagram, so seeing her not follow Lee Hyori is weird. There must be something."
