This discovery, found on the official website of the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service, immediately set tongues wagging in the K-pop community.

According to the findings, the trademark application for "WICHU" was lodged on February 20, listed under both the General Trademark and Internal trademark categories.

This move by SM Entertainment, a powerhouse in the Korean entertainment industry, hints at significant plans in the works.

Social Media Presence Adds Fuel to Speculation

Adding fuel to the fire of speculation are newly discovered social media accounts under the same moniker. Platforms such as X and Instagram now host profiles with the name "WICHU," leaving fans to speculate whether this will indeed be the title of SM Entertainment's highly anticipated new girl group.

Should these clues prove accurate, "WICHU" will mark SM Entertainment's first girl group debut since aespa's meteoric rise to fame.

Recently, SM Entertainment announces comeback, debut, and concert schedule for its artists in 2024. With the implementation of the SM 3.0 system, multiple comebacks are expected each month.

Highlights include RIIZE, SHINee Minho, and Super Junior's sub-unit L.S.S in January; NCT Ten and Taeyong in February; and Red Velvet Wendy and NCT Dream in March.

The second quarter promises even more with releases from aespa, EXO Suho, Girls' Generation Hyoyeon, and others. Concerts by various artists are also planned, including aespa, NCT Dream, Super Junior - L.S.S., and WayV Ten. Additionally, SM will introduce four new artists in 2024, including a Korean girl group, a British boy group, and the solo debut of a virtual artist, naevis.
