Lovelyz Jisoo Debuts as BJ on AfreecaTV
On February 26, a post titled "A female idol debuted as an AfreecaTV BJ today" was shared on the popular South Korean online community forum TheQoo and quickly went viral.
According to the post, Jisoo opened up her own channel, "Ddeojisoo." Her first live stream was titled "Is this Seo Jisoo from Lovelyz? Starting at 7:00 PM."
Jisoo will specifically stream herself playing video games, stating that she has always liked games in general.
During her stream, Jisoo revealed why she chose to start a career as BJ, saying, "I was originally preparing to be an actress, but the conditions are not that favorable these days. The trends are always changing, so I wondered what I could do well. I started streaming because I wanted to play games."
When Lovelyz fans started entering her chat window, Jisoo appeared delighted to see them. At the mention of the group disbanding, she stressed that Lovelyz is still together. She also added, "If I do well streaming myself playing games, it might be a chance for Lovelyz to come together."
When asked if she was contracted with AfreecaTV, she stated she was not tied down to the platform. She is also looking into trying Naver's streaming service.
Reactions to her opening an AfreecaTV channel were mixed. Some were happy to see her playing, saying they found it cute. Others were confused as to why a female idol would suddenly turn to live streaming.
Many pointed out that female streamers who debut on AfreecaTV are known for provocative 18+ streams. While Jisoo stated she would only be playing games, netizens believe it would have been better if she started on YouTube instead.
Lovelyz Jisoo Earns THIS Much After First Day Streaming on AfreecaTV
Immediately after the broadcast, a post titled "Seo Jisoo's earnings on AfreecaTV for about 4 hours" appeared on a popular South Korean online community forum, attracting attention.
The post contained an image capturing the number of star balloons Jisoo received during the broadcast as of 10:50 PM. on that day. Considering that Jisoo started the broadcast at 6:36 PM, it had been 4 hours and 14 minutes since then.
According to the image, Jisoo received a total of 51,100 star balloons and gained 12,565 subscribers.
As a result, the total income amounted to 5,011,000 won (excluding fees). However, as the BJ, Jisoo actually received 40% of the income, which is 3,006,600 won.
As of 11:30 AM on February 27, 2024, she had received 52,634 star balloons (the actual amount received was 3,158,040 won).
Many were shocked at the amount of money she raised in just four hours. People stated they were jealous of how much she earned and noted that she would have earned more if she streamed longer.
