Lovelyz Member Draws Divided Reception For New Profession
On February 9, 2024, a post titled "This Lovelyz member really became a 'selling people'" was uploaded to a popular South Korean community forum.
There, the author shared a screenshot of Lovelyz member Jin's Instagram account. They criticized her new profession of being a "selling people," or someone who sells items on social media. It was noted that her highlights consist of her trying and promoting sponsored products.
Just this month, she is scheduled to promote four different brands. On the 9th, she promoted Doctor Paw Paw. She is set to promote Millet Pack on the 14th, Black Tiger Shake on the 20th, and Gleam on the 26th.
The author also noted that she no longer has Lovelyz in her profile. Meanwhile, the other members still have the group name in their accounts and bios.
The post garnered much attention on the forum, gathering over 128,000 views and hundreds of comments.
Reactions to the post were mixed. Others criticized her, saying it was a waste of her idol status. Also, since she took out the Lovelyz title from her account, it appeared like she had no confidence that the group would reunite.
Some comments read,
- "Jin seems to be the one member who has no confidence in Lovelyz."
- "She has the title of an idol, so it is kind of a waste."
- "Well, she had little presence in Lovelyz anyway."
Others, however, defended the idol. They stated that there is nothing wrong with what she is doing and instead commended her for having a strong will to live and find a way to put food on the table. People also noted that just because she debuted as an idol does not mean she has to continue being active in the entertainment industry.
Some comments read,
- "Jin is making sure she can feed herself. She is doing this for herself, so why do you care?"
- "Who cares if she does it? If you debut as an idol, do you have to continue living as a celebrity?"
- "At least Jin's will to live is strong. She won't starve."
