Amid controversies over live vocals among 4th-gen idols, THIS girl group take pride in their singing abilities, revealing they have never lip-synced.
On March 21, the K-media outlet Nocut News released an interview with Purple Kiss, in commemoration of their sixth mini-album "BXX," released on the 19th.
During the talk with the girl group, the members discussed various topics including their wide-range concepts, and singing abilities that they hoped would soon stand out.
Purple Kiss Goeun Proudly Reveals They Never Lip-Synced
Lately, fourth-gen girl groups such as LE SSERAFIM, aespa, and IVE were criticized for their live vocals and lip-syncing.
However, Purple Kiss is different. When asked about their singing skills, Na Goeun said:
"There has never been a time when we did not perform live on stage. I actually wanted this to be a little more noticeable, but I felt very proud because I felt like we did a live performance on stage without any problems."
Swan added:
"I thought it would be good to reveal a little more of our live performance aspect. At the end of this tour, almost everyone performed on stage with hand microphones at the end. So I think I was able to ad-lib a lot more freely, and the fans responded quickly. It was nice to be able to receive immediate feedback."
Swan Takes Pride on Purple Kiss' Vocals
While "underrated," it is difficult to describe Purple Kiss without mentioning their top-tier singing abilities.
Even prior to their debut, the six-member group, formed by RBW, the label which also produced MAMAMOO, was evaluated as a team where all members had stable vocals and talent.
Swan conveyed how proud of her regarding this aspect, saying:
"When it comes to our team, the first thing that comes to mind is our vocal skills. The members' voice tone in each song seems to be improving accordingly. I think the harmony that comes from the unique vocals coming together is good (as well)."
Meanwhile, "BXX," the first release of Purple Kiss in six months after "FESTA," is an album that contains the six members' own hipness and free personality that aims to appeal to the public.
"BXX" is a term coined by changing the "FF" to "XX" from the acronym, BFF (Best Friend Forever). The album wants to convey the message of loyalty and friendship of members with XX chromosomes.
Through their sixth mini-album, "BXX," Purple Kiss also aims to receive positive evaluations from listeners, as well as to achieve its first-ever win on music shows since debut.
"This is the first time that we are showing a hip-hop performance, but it contains Purple Kiss's unique color on it. We hope people would realize, 'This is what the Purple Kiss color is like.'
As many of our members participated in the album, there are many songs that reflect our thoughts and stage desires, so I hope you can say, 'Ah, this is what they want to show."
