Many were shocked at how the idol's visuals changed. People believe he looks like he has aged drastically, with some claiming he looks like he could pass off as a Super Junior member. For reference, Super Junior members are aged in their late 30s to early 40s.

People were concerned that the idol was gaining weight rapidly, which could signal an underlying health condition. However, some believed it could be cakey make-up, an unflattering hairstyle, or bad lighting.

As discussion arose about why Renjun's face changed, the idol himself came out to release a short statement on the matter.

On March 26, 2024, Renjun addressed his weight gain through Dear U. Bubble.

In his statement, he acknowledges that some people could have been disappointed by his appearance. However, he stresses that he is still the same talented Renjun. The idol also adds that, from his perspective, weight can easily be lost.

The idol thanked his fans for loving him regardless of his appearance. His whole statement reads,

"Some people might have been disappointed by my swollen appearance. However, I am still the same person. My voice and dance are still Renjun. I think that weight is something that can be lost. Despite this, thank you so much for still loving me!"

With his responses, hopefully speculations on the cause of his current visuals can be put to rest.
