ZEROBASONE Ricky became a hot topic for his visuals in THIS video. However, instead of admiration, the idol was criticized for looking "hideous." What happened?
ZB1 Ricky Criticized for 'Scary' Visuals
On April 5, the official TikTok of the rookie boy group uploaded a new video of its member Ricky dancing to ENHYPEN's "Bite Me."
The idol is highly associated with the vampire concept; thus, seeing him perform the dance challenge was a treat to fans, until Ricky was bashed for his heavy makeup and visuals.
When the video was posted, fans started to share it on the X platform as well, which later became the center of criticism.
While there is no doubt that Ricky truly slayed the choreography, attire and vibes, he made fans roll their eyes over his visuals, which were enhanced with makeup and contact lenses.
Looking at the male idol, he used a heavy foundation to have a fairer face, and his eyes were emphasized even more by using red eyeshadow around his crease, lid and lower lashline.

While Ricky most likely aimed to perfect the vampire-like image, this look didn't sit well with fans who criticized him for looking "scary" and "hideous" instead.
The idol's video which was shared by an internet user then amassed 4.6 million views, and a lot of people agreed to the OP that it is "scary."
Some are even calling him "ugly" because of his rare appearance with a lighter and natural makeup look.

ZEROSEs Defend ZB1 Ricky from Hateful Comments
Following the hateful comments that the idol received, ZEROSEs (fandom) jumped to the idol's defense and questioned the OP for describing Ricky as "hideous" & "scary."
Fans complained that the hate was so forced since more people were saying that he looked gorgeous and sexy in the video.
Regarding his makeup, fans are highlighting that Ricky is only applying Chinese makeup and even without it, he would still look so fine.
Everyone be begging for darker concepts but when someone puts on a slight shade that is lighter with a red eye look, its scary. Wether the makeup was done intentionally or not, im a SUCKER for white foundation. The lighter the better and Ricky looked good as hell 🥀💋
