LE SSERAFIM Kim Chaewon Sparks Debate Over Now-Deleted 'Flipping Off' Video Clip
LE SSERAFIM made headlines on April 13, when they performed their best hits at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The quintet, known for their songs such as "Perfect Night," "EASY," "UNFORGIVEN," and "FEARLESS," energized FEARNOTs and gained new fans along the way. However, some netizens found the performance lacking due to the group's singing skills.
This dilemma eventually caused a myriad of criticism and forced hate regarding LE SSERAFIM's performance, with an equal measure of opposed FEARNOTs defending the group from the harsh remarks and unwanted loathing online.
On April 15, Korean netizens established an online community titled, "Wow, Chaewon Looks Freaking Pis**d."
In the forum, the author uploaded a clip from Chaewon's Instagram Stories, showing rapper Doja Cat dauntingly giving the middle finger mid-performance. The "Say So" singer performed on Coachella 2024's third day, and Chaewon was one of the viewers who enjoyed the stage.
"That f**k you lol," OP remarked.
The comments section was filled by frustrated netizens, who argued that Chaewon had no intentions of some sort when she posted the video and that she was just enjoying Doja Cat's show. Meanwhile, some K-netz were shocked by Chaewon's gesture.
Read their comments below:
- "Didn't she delete that story?"
- "This part was probably the most memorable part for her. Stop with the forced hate."
- "What the? Kim Chaewon released that herself?"
- "Ah, this is embarrassing."
- "As expected from an it-girl."
- "She was just watching Doja Cat's concert."
- "I don't think she released it with any intentions behind it."
On the other hand, some netizens were convinced that Chaewon was allegedly shading the critics on the internet and reprimanded her for her gestures. They also expressed disappointment and suggested the idol to take some advice instead of "flipping" online.
Here's how they reacted:
- "Girl-child! Take the criticism. Own your s**t. Keep that post up. Loss."
- "Gurl this doesn't change the fact you sucked. If I wasn't doing my job properly I'd be getting fired the next, so get your lazy a** back in that studio."
- "She's getting pis**d off instead of taking criticism as a sign. Her group needs vocal lessons. This is embarrassing."
- "She should learn how to take criticism instead of getting pis**d go take vocal lessons."
Other international fans didn't agree with the claims of Chaewon shading critics and argued that she's only a fan of Doja Cat.
- "Okay, now y'all are reaching. Chaewon's a Doja fan. LSF were seen attending a bunch of other shows the next day."
- "The 'overanalyzing everything they do' is starting I see."
- "I just assumed she was posting a clip because she enjoyed the performance or something. I don't think there is any meaning behind it lol."
