Is the HYBE vs. ADOR Feud Because ILLIT Copied NewJeans?
On April 22, 2024, Korean media outlet Hankyung released an exclusive interview with current ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin, where she explained the motivations behind her feud with HYBE Labels.
During the interview, she expressed fear that NewJeans and the group's identity would be taken from her following ILLIT's debut. She stated it is not just BELIFT Lab, ILLIT's label, that copied NewJeans but HYBE themselves.
She claimed that HYBE, who claim to be leaders of K-pop, were blinded by greed and, instead of creating something different, opted to mimic the formula NewJeans used to succeed.
Before deciding to separate from HYBE Labels, Min Hee Jin and ADOR tried to send requests and statements from BELIFT Lab, all of which were left unanswered. Allegedly, they asked for a statement regarding the infringement on NewJeans' brand value.
