ILLIT Copying EXO? Rookies Accused of Imitating Senior Group For Doing THIS

After being accused of copying NewJeans, ILLIT is now facing allegations of plagiarizing from EXO.

Previously, ILLIT was dragged into controversy after ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin accused HYBE and BELIFT Lab of copying NewJeans' concept for ILLIT's debut, thus causing their feud. With that, more eyes are on ILLIT as they navigate through their debut promotions and the current drama.

Sadly, they are now being accused of copying a different group.

ILLIT Posts Tweet Following 'Lucky Girl Syndrome' Performance on 'Inkigayo'

On April 21, 2024, ILLIT took to their official X (formerly Twitter) account to share photos of the girls. Currently, they are promoting not just their debut track "Magnetic," but the b-sidetrack "Lucky Girl Syndrome" as well.

In the photos included in their tweet, the girls are seen forming an L with their fingers.

In their tweet, it talks about how all worlds with the letter L are beautiful. They listed out the words Love, Lucky, ILLIT, and LILLYs as examples.

For reference, LILLYs was previously ILLIT's fandom name, but due to backlash, they are going to change it. It was pointed out that NMIXX has a member named Lily, and BLACKPINK member Lisa's solo fandom name is Lillies.

In their tweet, they talk about being reassured thanks to the love they received from LILLYs and how they plan to shower them with unchanging love.

Though the tweet was warm and heartfelt, it was immediately met with backlash from EXO-Ls, who claim ILLIT is copying EXO.

ILLIT Accused of Copying EXO

Ever since EXO announced their fandom name, EXO-L, they have been using the L hand symbol to represent their group and fandom.

Lay also uses the L hand symbol for several meanings, as it references EXO, EXO-Ls, and his name, Lay.

As EXO has been in the industry for over 12 years, EXO-Ls find it hard to believe that BELIFT Lab and HYBE Labels were unaware of how EXO uses the same hand gesture.

They slammed the company and ILLIT themselves for being rookies yet "shamelessly stealing" from their seniors.

EXO-Ls claim that there are many other poses that ILLIT can do and demand that they stop using the "L" hand symbol, as it should be reserved for EXO.
