WAKEONE has responded to reports that claimed Kep1er would disband in July.

As fans know, Kep1er is a project group with a temporary contract. Since they came from a survival show, fans are sadly counting the days until the group has to inevitably disband. When reports came out that the group was dissolving in July, Kep1ians (Kep1er's fandom) were understandably upset.

WAKEONE Responds to Rumors That Kep1er's Contract Expires in July

The agency for the group Kep1er has stated that they are "in discussions for extending their activities," following reports that the group is facing disbandment.

On April 25, 2024, a representative from their agency, WAKEONE, spoke exclusively with South Korean media outlet Ilgan Sports.

In their statement, they claimed that they are currently in discussions for a possible contract extension with the members and their agencies, meaning their disbandment in July is not yet certain. They stated,

"We are currently discussion with each member and their respective agencies regarding the extension of Kep1er's project activities."

They also informed the media that Kep1er is currently preparing for a new album.

Earlier, a media outlet reported that Kep1er would disband following failed contract negotiations by the end of July. However, with the agency's statement of being "in discussions," attention is now focused on their future activities and whether the girl group will disband or not.

Kep1er is a project group formed through the Mnet audition program "Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga," aiming for a debut as a joint girl group in South Korea, China, and Japan.

The group consists of a total of nine members: Choi Yujin, Shen Xiaoting, Mashiro Sakamoto, Kim Chaehyun, Kim Dayeon, Hikaru Ezaki, Huening Bahiyyih, Seo Youngeun, and Kang Yeseo.

In other news, Kep1er is set to release their first full-length album in Japan, titled "Kep1going," on May 8, 2024.

Kep1er Recent Activities

As of January 2024, discussions regarding the renewal of Kep1er's contracts were reported to be ongoing, with their current contracts set to expire on July 3, 2024.

Kep1er embarked on their second Japanese concert tour titled "Kep1er Japan Concert Tour 2024, 'Fly-High,'" performing at the Makuhari Event Hall in Chiba on February 23–24, 2024, and at the Kobe World Memorial Hall in Kobe on March 2–3.

Their first Japanese studio album, "Kep1going," is scheduled for release on May 8. The music video for the title track, "Straight Line," was unveiled on April 23, 2024.
