On X, NCTzens and DIVEs were sent into a frenzy after IVE Liz had a duet of Kim Sejeong's "Flower Way" with Kim Min Ah, NCT Jungwoo's older sister.
On May 12, the 450th episode of MBC's entertainment show, "King of Mask Singer," aired, flaunting the duet battle between the participants "Hourglass" and "Sand Play."
Although IVE Liz was wearing masks, K-pop fans and the media confirmed that "Hourglass" was her, just based on her voice and physique.
Meanwhile, after losing the battle, "Sand Play" introduced herself as actress Kim Min Ah, which was later confirmed to be NCT Jungwoo's older sister.
During the duet performance, Liz and Kim Min Ah sang a beautiful rendition of Kim Sejeong's debut track "Flower Way" (prod. by Zico).
Although Min Ah was noticeably nervous, she was lauded for proving that the "celebrity genes" run in the blood, not only in terms of stunning visuals but impressive vocals as well.
IVE Liz, who is the main vocalist of the group, cemented her status as one of the best fourth-gen singers with her flawless singing skills and vocal control.
Rather than seeing it as a competition, NCTzens (Jungwoo's fans) and DIVEs (IVE Liz fans) find it so heartwarming to see them sing the song with their angelic voices and rejoiced with the interaction that they never thought they would get.
Liz, who was competing with a non-singer was also praised for not overpowering her and presenting a beautiful match that made them stand out both.
In the end, IVE Liz who was under the mask of "Hourglass" was chosen by the panels to advance to the next round.
Fans who watched Liz and Min Ah's duet left rave comments such as:
- "Liz gets to sing with Jungwoo's sister, that's very sweet."
- "Both are really good."
- "Wait, so Kim Min Ah (NCT Jungwoo's sister) sings with IVE Liz?"
Meanwhile, for those who don't know Kim Min Ah (born in 1995), she is the older sister of NCT 127 Jungwoo (born in 1998).
She was originally introduced as a singer in 2015 under the name Haru, but in 2021, she signed with Woori Actors and started an acting career.
Kim Min Ah appeared in some works such as "My Name" and "Jazz for Two" for minor roles, but she rose to popularity for being a frequent guest in "Love Naggers Season 3."
During a short interview in the broadcast then, Kim Min Ah talked about her younger brother. While she was originally reluctant to mention her connection with Jungwoo in public, the idol gave his full support and told her to just do it.
"Actually, my younger brother and I have been very cautious about mentioning each other. We were reluctant to mention it, but he said, ‘If that’s what you want to do, then do it,’ so we came out."
Min Ah also hinted at their true sibling vibes when asked about their three-year age gap, saying:
"Just like any other siblings, we bicker and take care of each other when we have to. (When I joined here), he just said, 'Do your best.'"
