Korean netizens believe (G)I-DLE member Shuhua may be getting ready to leave her idol career behind.
On May 16, 2024, a post titled "Is Shuhua abandoning Korea?" was uploaded to the popular South Korean online community forum Nate Pann.
In the post, the original poster shared several of Shuhua's Instagram Stories and posts. It was noted that since the start of May, all of Shuhua's posts have been in Chinese, and she has been partnering up with Taiwanese brands and media outlets.
According to the original poster, Shuhua barely posts in Korean and doesn't interact with Korean comments anymore. Previously, the idol would be seen liking comments in Mandarin, English, and Korean.
It was also noted that Shuhua is rumored to not be participating in (G)I-DLE's comeback promotions. While she has performed with (G)I-DLE for some stages, she has not fully returned to her activities, flying back and forth between South Korea and Taiwan.
The original poster wondered if Shuhua returned to Taiwan after being criticized for her live vocal ability, and criticized the idol for not reflecting.
Korean netizens rushed to the comment section to react to the situation. Many believe it is better for her to leave Korea and return to her home country. Some believed she lacked the skills to be an idol, so a different career path would be better for her.
Others joked that she was running away, while some contemplated if she was really leaving her K-pop idol roots behind.
It's not far off to assume she is planning to leave. (G)I-DLE has a little over a year left in its contract with CUBE Entertainment. If Shuhua does not plan to renew her contract, the safest bet for her is to establish a career in her home country. Korean netizens claim it would be hard for her to continue being an idol due to her previous live vocal controversy.
