EXO-Ls and Bunnyzens have divided opinions as Suho utilized AI for the music video of his latest song, "Cheese," featuring Red Velvet Wendy.
On May 20, the double title track "Cheese" MV and its digital source were simultaneously dropped on various music platforms ahead of the official release of his 3rd mini-album, "1 to 3," on June 3.
Prior to this, the second lead track with the same name will be unveiled on May 31st.
In the meantime, EXO-Ls (EXO fandom) and Bunnyzens (Suho solo fandom) showed their excitement as Red Velvet Wendy and Suho showed their vocal chemistry while depicting the lyrics about their relationship with an old lover.
The message compares "Cheese" to love, which "breaks when cold, and melts when hot."
When the MV was then revealed, it drew rave reviews from fans, praising its creative concept and his comical chemistry with Wendy.
Unfortunately, not everyone was fully impressed by the male idol after his fans complained about him using AI.
An X account vented their frustration about how Suho "took 10 steps back" for using the new tech, rather than commissioning professional artists to make real art, just like what he has been doing since his debut.
it’s so incredibly disappointing to see a man who built his solo career on real art (his creative direction being heavily inspired by vincent van gogh, having his self portraits done by real artists for his first album) take 10 steps back and use ai in his music video #SUHO #수호 https://t.co/qYrgLMBVSr

you can’t support art and then turn around and do this it’s so… like i can’t believe that he would do it and i don’t want anyone making excuses for him either. he’s an educated man who has shown a passion for the arts but then???????????????

he has been so incredibly inspired by art in all its forms - from film to music to paintings to novels. this is so incredibly sad to witness.

Following this, some fans agreed and claimed that it is a valid argument, given that Suho giving importance to the value of classical art before is what made him stand out among the influx of soloists. Fans called it "unethical," "unauthentic," and "lazy."
i didn’t know he used ai, im actually really disappointed 😭 it just feels.. unauthentic and lazy

And if people keep allowing idols to use Ai it will just get worse and worse...

this is genuine criticism, i don't see why everyone's getting their panties in a twist 🤨 is it wrong to disagree with things our faves do from time to time????? https://t.co/oWsJvMfWiV

Op has a valid critism really😭 kpop stans in the comments needs to understand how much a/i affects artists career especially if they do art as a full time job😭 art is supposed to be unique, it supposed to convey meaning in their piece https://t.co/D388DA9J2g

Nevertheless, Eris jumped to Suho's defense, stating that using AI doesn't make his art any less, and attacked the original poster. Other fans assumed that the fan was just "jealous" of Suho being with Wendy in the MV and asked them to just leave the fandom.
Suho's supporters even found "receipts" of the OP "hating" on Wendy and at the same time supporting AI by creating AI artworks inspired by Suho's and other idols' releases.
‘i don’t like wendy on INDIVIDUAL LEVEL’ and proceed to not listen to her music online , so much for INDIVIDUAL level cuz music performance should be evaluated separate from INDIVIDUAL feelings about the artist and u wrote ‘I’m in a way signalling her out’ just stop w hypocrisy https://t.co/JsowTdAoOf pic.twitter.com/OG3X1oiSzv

You're just making excuses, remove JM from your bias list, you're very dramatic. Do you hate this collaboration because of Wendy? Is that right? You don't deserve him. Very rude, I won't forget you, girl. Stay away from JM and don't talk about JM anymore. https://t.co/tSqUqLMbqN pic.twitter.com/hsK99rCYQJ
