NewJeans member Hanni made her surprising debut on American singer Ariana Grande's Instagram Story!

Back in March, Hanni took to NewJeans's official TikTok to post a dance cover of Ariana Grande's song "The Boy is Mine." The song was released as part of Ariana Grande's album "Eternal Sunshine," which was released on March 8, 2024.

Hanni received major love for her dance cover of "The Boy is Mine." At the time, Billboard even posted an article noting how the K-pop idol nailed the difficult choreography.

Almost two months after Hanni's TikTok hit the internet, Ariana Grande shocked everyone by posting the cover to her Instagram account. She shared the video and included a heart, sharing her love for Hanni and the cover. This is huge, as Ariana Grande has over 379 million followers on the platform.

It did not take Hanni long to notice! She shared Ariana Grande's Story to NewJeans's Instagram Story, tagging Ariana Grande. She also used several emojis to explain her feelings, from a shocked emoji to a teary-eyed emoji to a heart hands emoji.

Hanni also spoke about the situation during a NewJeans listening party. Hanni excitedly told fans, "She reposted my dance!" The members seemed just as excited as her, screaming in excitement alongside Hanni. Though she seemed upset that she didn't know how to contact Ariana Grande, she jokingly stated, "Unnie, I can dance for you all day!"

Many took to social media to share their reactions to Ariana Grande and Hanni's interaction. They joked that the female idol must be in total shock that one of her favorite artists shared her video to their story, and congratulated Hanni for being a successful fangirl.

Others took this as a sign that NewJeans is becoming famous not just in South Korea, but in Hollywood as well. Many hope that this means NewJeans will have an easy time assimilating into mainstream media. Others expressed their desire for a possible NewJeans and Ariana Grande collab!

In other news, NewJeans plans to release an album in the second half of 2024. On May 24, 2024, the girl group released the single "How Sweet" alongside the b-sidetrack "Bubble Gum."
