On May 15, KBS 2TV's "MAKE MATE 1" (MA1) released its premiere episode and officially introduced the 35 contestants.

During the broadcast, the so-called "everyday boys" (participants) captured the viewers' hearts with their respective groups' performances, as they were initially divided into 8 teams.

Each team has been assigned to show a cover of their senior boy groups' iconic tracks, and to help C-Mates (judges) choose the best team, LOVELYZ Mijoo and Oh My Girl Hyojung appeared as special guests. Lee Gi Kwang also stands on stage as a special MC.

During the "First Stage" then, 300 audiences were invited to choose the best member and group, and which points given would be later added to the scores that the C-Mates would give.

As a result of Episode 1, here are the "Favorite Members" selected in each team:

'Be Mine' Team

Favorite Member: Noh Gi Hyeon 

Although the team received harsh criticism during the preliminary review, they successfully showed their potential development through their stage.

'Breathless' Team

Favorite Member: Kim Si On 

Contrary to the first group, the team received rave reviews from the C-Mates for their stable vocals, dance skills and energy. Unfortunately, Miraku made a mistake during the main stage, causing regrets.

'Growl' Team

Favorite Member: Jo Min Jae

Also known as the "Ace Team," the group met fans' and judges' expectations as they showed off a powerful first stage.

'Make Mate 1' (MA1) Episode 2

On May 22 then, the continuation of the "First Stage" was broadcast, showcasing the remaining five teams' stage.

'Fiction' Team

Favorite Member: Lee Do Ha 

Amid the pressure from C-Mates, the team's nervousness increased after finding out BEAST Lee Gi Kwang, the original singer of "Fiction" will be present on the show.

'Miss Right' Team

Favorite Member: An Xin 

After being criticized for not having teamwork due to a fight between members Kim Se Gon and Kim Sun Yub, they impressed the C-Mates after showing an improved stage.

'Very Good' Team

Favorite Member: Seo Yun Duk 

Regardless of the members' opposite charms from each other, the group rocked the stage with their "very good" performance resembling BLOCK B's fun and mischievous energy.

'Hello Future' Team

Favorite Member: Bing Fan 

During the face-to-face ceremony, the team raised brows for their vocals and energy singing a difficult song but they truly showed improvement on the first stage.

'U Team'

Favorite Member: Choi Han Gyeol 

During the MATE PICK segment, the "U" team was selected as the group that will most likely ranked bottom. Surprisingly, they turned the table upside down with their lovely charm and synchronized performance, Hyojung even claimed they might become one of the top teams among audiences.
