In an official statement, Yong Junhyung, who is being called out amid the "Burning Sun" documentary, finally spoke out and revealed the "true story" behind his involvement in the scandal.
On June 12, former BEAST Yong Junhyung took to his personal Instagram to address everything about his alleged involvement in the "Burning Sun Gate" controversy.
Earlier, the case became a hot topic again after BBC released a documentary about it, revealing the gruesome crimes the main perpetrators, such as Seungri and Jung Joon Young, did to their victims.
At the time, the members of the KakaoTalk group chat used to spread "molkas" (illegally filmed videos) drew attention, and one of the most mentioned was Yong Junhyung, a soloist and the current boyfriend of HyunA.
During the investigation back in 2019, it was revealed that Yong was never a member of the group chat; however, it is true that he received "molkas."

For the first time in five years then, Yong clarified the information about this. In a lengthy statement, he revealed his stance on the matter.
"Hello, this is Yong Junhyung.
At the time, I was clearly foolish and wrong. I failed to correct my mistake, not knowing which one was the right choice.
Amid the overheated criticism and with a scared heart, I apologized to the company and the members. I didn't want to inflict more harm because of me, so I was prepared to lose everything from the place that was so precious to me, where I had worked for so many years and chose to leave the group."
At this point, Yong narrated what truly happened during the time that he received the video and explained:
"I clicked on the videos that were sent to my personal messenger without any explanation on a black screen, so I couldn't tell what it was or what the intention was until I clicked on it to check it.
Later, I could have said, 'Stop, this is not right,' but I wasn't someone who could say things like that so I just glossed it over.
However, as I mentioned then and insisted later, I NEVER entered the group chat room and was not involved in the incident where unspeakable things happened."
Yong complained about the injustice he suffered over the years of being labeled as someone involved in the case.
"Through the years, the media and people have been saying countless times, 'I am one of the people in that case as a member of the chat room,' and 'I consumed illegally filmed video. I insisted that it was not true, but no one, no article separated me from them and I ended up becoming someone like them, someone I had no relationship with."
Lastly, he revealed that he's finally speaking out now because of the people that he wants to protect, indirectly mentioning HyunA, his girlfriend, who has suffered from major backlash after being in a relationship with him.
Yong continued:
"I didn't have the confidence to bring up the past and talk about it again, and I couldn't muster the courage and spent the whole time ignoring it, thinking that all would just pass. Even if I get hurt repeatedly, I will just endure it and persevere.
However, I ask you earnestly. I hope that everyone including my family, the people that I love and care about, as well as the fans who look at me despite my shortcomings will not get hurt anymore."
He specifically requested the media about this, promising that he would work harder to strive and become a more mature person.
