In a radio broadcast, K-pop icon Ahn Sohee revealed that among current groups, THIS junior captured her heart the most.
On June 12, former Wonder Girls Ahn Sohee graced the SBS's radio show, "Kim Young Chul's PowerFM" with her presence as its guest.
On this day, the two reminisced about the top star's heyday as an idol and felt nostalgic about the past. DJ Kim Young Chul also expressed regrets about coming to an era where people don't even know that Ahn used to be a singer prior to becoming an actress.
Sohee agreed and said:
"That's understandable. To me, the first-gen idol is Fin. K.L. and S.E.S sunbaenim, but there are people who say that I am a first-generation idol."
In particular, Wonder Girls debuted in 2007 which is the start of the second-gen era for girl groups. At the time, they sent the global music scene into a frenzy with their multihit, "Nobody," and became the first-ever K-pop act to enter the U.S. Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
In South Korea, they also made a dance craze, "So Hot" and "Tell Me," the latter song becoming a global trend after it became a viral TikTok dance challenge last year.
As a 17-year senior idol, Ahn was then asked if there was any junior idol group that caught her eye right now. Without hesitation, she replied:
"SEVENTEEN. I really like SEVENTEEN's music."
But, this is not the first time that Ahn Sohee has shown her affection to the team, as she has been expressing how she adores them since 2022!
During an interview with SEVENTEEN Seungkwan, who is also known for being a huge Wonder Girls stan, Ahn Sohee confessed that she likes the group a lot.
At the time, she showered them with praise, saying:
"SEVENTEEN is the idol group that I adore. It's so obvious that you practice a lot and I can see you're proud of your performances.
You do your best to stand out which is very natural as an idol but you also think about the whole performance and the members do their best to make a perfect stage as a group.
That's what I think of SEVENTEEN. It's like, 'I love these guys, they are so good."
Even after two years, that love didn't waver, and in another radio broadcast that she joined on June 10 hosted by Day6 Young K, she suggested SEVENTEEN's "Our dawn is hotter than day" to be played.
On the other hand, after becoming a full-fledged actress, Ahn Sohee, rather than an idol, became known among the younger generation as an actress notable for her works, "Train to Busan," and "Missing: The Other Side," released with 2 seasons.
Currently, she is actively promoting her upcoming new film, "Daechi-dong Scandal," starring opposite actor Park Sang Nam, by appearing in various content and radio shows.
