LE SSERAFIM Yunjin Ends Live Singing Skills Issue With Cover of Sabrina Carpenter's New Song

After being continuously criticized for her live vocals, Yunjin ended this controversy as she proved why she's considered one of the best vocalists among the 4th-gen with a cover of THIS song.

Earlier, Yunjin turned on a Weverse live broadcast to communicate with her fans, especially FEARNOTs.

Here, she talked about various topics and gladly had a mini music session as she sang various songs of different artists including BTS J-Hope's "I Don't Know" featuring herself.

While she often did this even before, Yunjin has been the focus of attention even from non-fans lately following LE SSERAFIM's live singing skills controversy at the Coachella.

Since then, they were continuously criticized for "not being able to sing" and one of the members who earned the frustration of netters was Huh Yunjin, the main vocalist of the group.

Before her debut, she originally proved her potential through Mnet's "Produce 48," not to mention her pre-debut videos that showed her impressive background in classical music.

When she debuted, she was then named one of the best singers among fourth-gen idols along with NMIXX Lily & aespa NingNing.

But the perception of her started to change when she failed to live up to fans' expectations during their Coachella stage.

During her recent live, she then flaunted a live cover of Sabrina Carpenter's new single, "Please Please Please" with just her raw vocals alone.

Without much effort, she was able to hit the notes perfectly and exuded honey-like vocals, raising hope that she would be able to collaborate with the international singer in the future.

When her video circulated online, FEARNOTs teased haters with how beautiful Yunjin's voice is, refuting that her vocals are just good whenever it is edited.

As the issue finally died down, netizens are discussing that Yunjin has always been a good singer if only their songs were on her range. Fans noticed that Yunjin has difficulty singing songs that require the lower register and that she's more comfortable singing songs with higher keys.

Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM, the group to which Kim Chaewon belongs maintained an unwavering popularity amid controversies.

On June 21, the quintet was selected as "Best of K-pop" in the "Best Artist of the First Half of 2024" announced by Japan's Amazon Music.

The counting period runs from October 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024, calculated by adding up album sales and the cumulative number of plays from music streaming platforms.

After ranking first, Amazon Music said:

"LE SSERAFIM's 'EASY' captured the charts as soon as it was released and became a hot topic, and thanks to its worldwide popularity, it entered the US Billboard ‘Hot 100’. It would not be an exaggeration to say that K-pop in the first half of 2024 will be LE SSERAFIM."
