SBS Revisits Late Goo Hara's 'Last Message' in Secret Account Amid Her Safe Theft Case

In the latest "Unanswered Questions" episode, late Goo Hara's final message through her private account garnered curiosity from K-pop fans.

On June 23, the investigative journalism program from SBS became a hot topic among South Koreans and K-pop fans as it featured the unresolved theft case involving Goo Hara's safe.

Recalling, fifty days after the idol passed in November 2019, her house was robbed. It was deemed an ordinary burglar case back then, but people were skeptical after it was revealed that only her safe was taken, leaving her other valuables untouched.

As a result, SBS looked into this related case when they happened to discover a secret account of the former idol where she posted her "last message" before her death.

On November 24, 2019, she was found lifeless at her home in Cheongdam-dong after returning to Korea from Japan amid promotions as a solo artist. A day before that on November 23, her last message on her main account would be: "Good Night."

However, the program revealed that she actually wrote another message on her private account on the 24th, saying:

"I'm scared."

The secret SNS only has her close friends, and at the time, she was comforted by them, leaving comments such as:

  • "You have me."
  • "Why are you so scared? You're an idiot. I'm always on your side. Think of us."

However, not long after this, Goo Hara passed away. At the time, only a simple note was found at the scene, but it wasn't a suicide note.

Goo Ho In, Hara's older brother, revealed that after that, they opened her safe to find her will after her helper mentioned that she wrote a will long before just in case something happened to her.

Unfortunately, they found no will.

Ho In then revealed:

"(In the safe) there were letters exchanged with people, contracts, documents settled from the agency, a house registration certificate, and six cell phones.

Even if you collect cell phones in the safe, you don't tell your acquaintances. I also do. I didn’t know (there was a cell phone)."

Regarding the theft case, Ho In raised his suspicions.

"There were designer clothes, shoes, and watches in the dressing room on the second floor (where the safe was located). Everything else was in the same place so I didn't even know the safe was gone. There were no signs that the house was searched, and only the safe was taken."

He then said that the main cellphone of Hara remains locked to date, as he's still waiting for a trustworthy technology that can unlock it.

Meanwhile, as it became known that cell phones were collected in Goo Hara's safe, some are speculating that the safe may have been taken by someone targeting information in the cell phone in connection with the Burning Sun incident.

Regarding this, Goo Hara's legal representative, Noh Jong Eon, said:

"I am very cautious in saying definitively whether this cell phone has a connection with Burning Sun or not. However, I think there is a need to look back on the safe case."

After 4 years, the thief is yet to be captured, and there are not many details about it aside from CCTV footage revealing the culprit.

Following the broadcast, there are speculations that the person behind the theft case was Zico, who was being mentioned in the "Burning Sun" scandal.

In particular, the late Hara was one of the key people who helped the journalists and police to solve the case.
