The OG "Pretty Girls" KARA are finally returning to the K-pop scene!
After about 2-year hiatus, the group will make a full comeback on THIS date.
On June 27, KARA created an internet frenzy as they confirmed the release of their upcoming digital single, "I DO I DO," on July 24!
On the same day, KARA and their fandom KAMILIA officially entered a new music era by changing their official social media platforms with their new water-shaped and transparent logo floating on the horizon.
Along with the logo, KARA also piqued fans' curiosity after writing the line, "I'll make you happy."
According to the Korean media, the logo symbolizes the "blue delphinium," a flower that blooms only in summer.
Just like their flower language, "I'll make you happy," KARA raises expectations about what kind of dream-like story they will write brilliantly this summer.
Following the announcement, KARA immediately captured the excitement of K-pop fans, who happily welcomed the return of the quintet.
On X, KARA is receiving rave reviews.
- "KARA are becoming 'Summer Queens' again. We are so back!"
- "One of the best decisions that was made for K-pop was KARA coming back."
- QUEENS ON THE LINE!"
- "KARA! Welcome back, queens! K-pop world healed, earth greener, birds chirping, sky clear blue, etc."
Meanwhile, KARA will be making their first comeback as a whole group after 1 year and 8 months since they released their special album, "MOVE AGAIN," in November 2022 to commemorate their 15th debut anniversary.
At the time, former members Nicole and Jiyoung rejoined the group, announcing a new five-member system.
Upon their comeback, they showed off their unrelenting power and influence as second-gen legends after sweeping the top spots on major domestic music charts as well as earning music show wins for its title track, "When I Move."
This made the group KARA the first second-generation girl group to win first-place trophies on music shows in the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s — still showing how relevant they are amid newer girl groups!
In that year, the quintet also appeared in the year-end special of TV Asahi's "Music Station X-Mas Super Live, "Japan's representative music program, showing their high status in the Japanese market.
But on top of that, KARA also showed off their influence beyond Korea and Japan after their song, "When I Move," was chosen as one of the "Best K-Pop Songs of 2022" by the US Billboard.
In 2023, they held fan meetings in Seoul and three cities in Japan to meet KAMILIAs in person, achieving sold-out events just after the opening of ticket selling.
This then proved their unrelenting reputation as "Hallyu Queen" even after two decades.
KARA, who established a 17-year strong popularity and fandom after debuting in 2007, is then planning to once again prove their impact with their full-length concert, "KARASIA," in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, which will be held in August.
